Proclaiming certain lands in the County of Wanganui
to be Waste Lands of the Crown.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the seventeenth section of "The
Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876," it
is enacted, that whenever the Governor is satisfied
that any lands purchased out of the sums authorized
under "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," and any Act amending the same, to be issued
and expended in the purchase of lands in the North
Island of New Zealand, are free from Native claims
and all difficulties in connection therewith, he shall
by Proclamation declare such lands to be waste
lands of the Crown, subject, except as thereafter in
the said Act provided, to be sold and dealt with
according to the provisions of the laws regulating
the sale and disposal of waste lands of the Crown
for the time being in force in the land district in
which such land is situated; and thereupon such land
so proclaimed shall become subject to such provi-
sions:

And whereas the land described in the Schedule
hereto has been purchased out of the sums authorized
under "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," and Acts amending the same, and it is ex-
pedient that the said land should be declared to be
waste lands of the Crown:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
Zealand, being satisfied that the lands de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto are free from Native
claims, and all difficulties in connection therewith, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by "The Waste Lands Administration
Act, 1876," do hereby proclaim and declare the said
lands to be waste lands of the Crown, subject to be
sold and dealt with according to the provisions of the
laws regulating the sale and disposal of waste lands
of the Crown in force in the Land District of Wel-
lington.


SCHEDULE.
TOKAMARU.

ALL that block of land called or known by the name
of Tokamaru, situated on the proper right bank of
the Wanganui River, in the District of Wanganui,
in the Provincial District of Wellington, containing
by admeasurement sixteen thousand five hundred and
forty-seven (16,547) acres, or thereabouts. Bounded
on the North by a line from Aramaire to the Kai Iwi
Stream six thousand nine hundred and forty-eight
(6948) links, thence crossing the Kai Iwi Stream, and
bounded by the Totara, a branch of the Kai Iwi
Stream, and by a line thence one thousand five hun-
dred and thirty (1530) links to Kaihokahoka, thence
bounded by lines running in the general direction of
a ridge to Ruawahia five hundred and ten (510)
links, one hundred and sixty-seven (167) links, one
hundred and sixty-four (164) links, two hundred and
fifteen (215) links, six hundred and eleven (611)
links, one hundred and seventy-six (176) links, one
hundred and sixty-nine (169) links, one hundred and
twenty-two (122) links, two hundred and seventy-

links to the Kauarapaoa Stream; thence bounded on
the East by the Kauarapaoa Stream to its junction
with the Wanganui River; thence bounded on the
South-east by the Wanganui River a short distance
and by a line thence two thousand and seventy-five
(2075) links to Tokamaru Hill; thence again on the
East'by lines six hundred and seventeen (617) links,
and two thousand seven hundred and twenty-seven
(2727) links to Tuahiwi; thence bounded on the
South by a line to Pukehinau six thousand two hun-
dred and eighty (6280) links, thence by a line to
Rakautawa six hundred and eighty-nine (689) links,
thence by a line to Te Rawaho five thousand three
hundred and twenty-one (5321) links, and by lines
thence eight hundred and forty-seven (847) links, six
hundred and eighty-nine (689) links, two hundred
and ninety-five (295) links, two hundred and eighty
(280) links, seven hundred (700) links, and nine hun-
dred and ninety (990) links, and thence by the Kai
Iwi Stream to the junction of the Ruakorora, thence
by the Ruakorora to a point a short distance above
the junction of the Mowhero Stream, thence by a
line one thousand two hundred and fifty-eight (1258)
links to the Areihuka Ridge, and by lines following
the said ridge three hundred and seventy-six (376)
links, one hundred and ninety-seven (197) links, one
hundred and eighty-six (186) links, one hundred and
