Proclaiming certain Lands at Katikati to be Waste
Lands of the Crown.

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by "The Waste Lands Administra-
tion Act, 1876," it is, among other things,
enacted that the Governor may from time to time,
by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, pro-
claim the confiscated lands within any land district
to be waste lands of the Crown:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim that the confiscated lands in the
Land District of Auckland which are particularly
described in the Schedule hereto shall (with the
exception of such portions of the said lands as have
respectively been allotted to military settlers under
"The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," or any
Act passed in amendment thereof, or awarded under
"The Tauranga District Lands Act, 1867,") be and
the same are hereby declared to be waste lands of
the Crown.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Auckland, containing by admeasurement eighty-nine
thousand six hundred (89,600) acres, more or less,
situate in the Katikati and Aongatete Survey District.
Bounded towards the North by a right line running
from Te Aroha to the coast at Nga-Kuriowhare one
thousand two hundred (1200) chains; towards the
East by the coast line, Tauranga Harbour, and the
Waipapa River to a point on said river two hundred
and fifty (250) chains north of a line running due
west of Maketu Trigonometrical Station, four thou-
sand three hundred and seventy-six (4376) chains;
towards the South by a right line running due west
from said point on the Waipapa River to the Aroha
Range five hundred and thirty-six (536) chains; and
towards the West by the summit of the Aroha Range
to Te Aroha, the starting point, one thousand one
hundred and sixty (1160) chains; be all the aforesaid
chainages more or less.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council;
Knight Commander of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George; Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twelfth day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.

Proclaiming certain Lands in the County of Patea to
be Waste Lands of the Crown.

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by the seventeenth section of "The
Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876," it
is enacted that whenever the Governor is satisfied
that any lands purchased out of the sums authorized
under "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," and any Act amending the same, to be issued
and expended in the purchase of lands in the North
Island of New Zealand are free from Native claims
and all difficulties in connection therewith, he shall
by Proclamation declare such lands to be waste
lands of the Crown, subject, except as thereafter in
the said Act provided, to be sold and dealt with
according to the provisions of the laws regulating
the sale and disposal of waste lands of the Crown
for the time being in force in the land district in
which such land is situated; and thereupon such land
so proclaimed shall become subject to such pro-
visions:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule
hereto has been purchased out of the sums authorized
under "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," and Acts amending the same, and it is ex-
pedient that the said land should be declared to be
waste lands of the Crown:
