Green Light at Napier.

Customs Department (Marine Branch),
Wellington, 25th June, 1877.

NOTICE has been received from the Napier Har-
bour Board that, on and after the 1st July
next, a Green Light will be exhibited between sunset
and sunrise on the northern extremity of the
Western Pier of the Napier Harbour Works now in
course of construction.

The green light on the end of the eastern pier will
continue to be shown as at present.

THE following notice to mariners, received from
the Otago Harbour Board, is published for
general information.

PORT OF DUNEDIN.

NOTICE is hereby given that, on and after the 1st day
of July next, Special Tide Signals will be shown on
the Port Chalmers Flagstaff to denote the minimum
depth of water in the South Channel of the Upper
Harbour from the first-quarter flood until high
water.

Tables of the signals to be used can be obtained
at the Harbour Offices, Dunedin and Port Chalmers.

Inquiry for a Missing Person.

Wellington, 26th June, 1877.

INQUIRIES have been made for a person named
JOHN SMITH,

who sailed for New Zealand in August, 1875, from
London, as cook on board the "Mataura."

He was last heard of at the Sailor's Home, Dun-
edin, Otago, in February, 1876, and is known to have
shipped on board the s.s. "Easby," for Sydney, late
in 1876.

He is about 5ft. 8in. in height; of fair complexion,
and stoops; and is about 69 years of age.

Any person possessing information respecting the
above-named, is requested to communicate the same
to this Office.
