Declaring "The Regulation of Local Elections Act,
1876," in force within the Pukekohe East Highway
District.

A PROCLAMATION.

B Y virtue of the power vested in me by the third
section of "The Regulation of Local Elections
Act, 1876," I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis
of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
said Act shall come into force in respect of all elec-
tive offices of the Pukekohe East Highway Board
within the district known as the Pukekohe East
Highway District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
the Most Honorable George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby,
Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby,
and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in
the County of York, in the Peerage of
the United Kingdom; and Baron Mul-
grave of New Ross, in the County of
Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a
Member of Her Majesty's Most Honor-
able Privy Council; Knight Commander
of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this eighteenth
day of April, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities conferred upon me by the
hereinbefore recited Act, and in exercise of every
other power enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the Te Aro Ward, of the
Borough of the City of Wellington, shall be and the
same is hereby divided into two wards, named res-
pectively Te Aro Ward and Cook Ward; and that
the boundaries of the said Te Aro Ward shall be
those set forth in the First Schedule hereto, and the
boundaries of the said Cook Ward shall be those set
forth in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
TE ARO WARD

Is bounded towards the North by Lambton Ward
and Lambton Harbour; towards the East by a right
line from a point in the Harbour to and along the
middle of Taranaki Street to Wallace Street, thence
by another right line along the middle of Wallace
Street to Bidwell Street, thence by another right line
along the middle of Bidwell Street to a point at the
intersection of the eastern boundary lines of Acres
681 and 687 produced, thence to and by Acres 687,
686, and 685; towards the South and West by Lot
13, Western District of the Town Belt, and by the
Karori District.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
COOK WARD

Is bounded towards the North by Lambton Harbour;
towards the East by Evans Bay District; towards
the South by Town District; and towards the West
by Ohiro District and Te Aro Ward.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the

Proclaiming Division of Te Aro Ward, Borough of
the City of Wellington.

NORMANBY, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.

W HEREAS by section twenty-three of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is
enacted that if not less than one-half of the
burgesses of any ward of a divided borough petition
the Governor, praying him to divide such ward into
two, and publish such petition, and no counter-
petition is presented to the Governor, signed by not
less than one-fourth of the burgesses of the other
wards, within two months from such publication, the
Governor may, by Proclamation, divide such ward
into two wards, with such names and boundaries as
he thinks fit: And whereas a petition was, on the
sixth of February, one thousand eight hun-
dred and seventy-seven, presented to His Excellency
the Governor by not less than one-half of the
burgesses of the Te Aro Ward, in the Borough of
the City of Wellington, praying him to divide such
ward into two, and such petition was duly published,
and no counter-petition has been presented to His
Excellency as by the said section is provided:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
Amended Proclamation under "The Protection of
Animals Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.

W HEREAS on the twenty-ninth day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven, a Proclamation was made and issued by His
Excellency the Governor under the tenth and
eleventh sections of "The Protection of Animals
Act, 1873," declaring the consecutive periods during
which it should be lawful to hunt, shoot, take, or kill
game and native game within the Provincial District
of Auckland: And whereas it is expedient to revoke
so much of such Proclamation as relates to the hunt-
