CHOICE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE COLONIAL PRIZE FIRING, 1877.
CARBINE REPRESENTATIVES.
Ranges, 200, 250, 300, and 400 yards. Seven (7) shots at each range. Targets at 200, 250, and 300 yards, 6 x 4 feet; centre,
2 feet; bull's-eye, 8 inches square. At 400 yards, 6 x 6 feet; centre, 4 feet; bull's-eye, 2 feet square. The firing took place
twice over, and the highest aggregate scorers became the representatives.
RIFLE REPRESENTATIVES.
Ranges, 200, 400, 500, and 600 yards. Seven (7) shots at each range. Targets at 200 yards, 6 x 4 feet; centre, 2 feet; bull's-
eye, 8 inches square. At 400, 500, and 600 yards, 6 x 6 feet; centre, 4 feet; bull's-eye, 2 feet square. The firing took place
twice over, and the highest aggregate scorers became the representatives.
Thirteen Carbine and twenty-seven Rifle Representatives were allowed as "Government" men for the whole colony, and a
like number of "Extra" men, apportioned according to the strength of the Volunteer force in the several districts.
Weapons used—Snider Artillery Carbines, and Snider Medium Rifles.
