HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
disband
The Poverty Bay Mounted Rifle Volunteers,
at their own request.
The under-mentioned gentlemen have therefore
ceased to hold the rank of Officers; their commis-
sions having under the provisions of "The Volunteer
Act, 1865," lapsed :----
Adolphus Frederick Hardy, Esq., late Captain.
Arthur Kempthorne, Esq., late Lieutenant.
Matthew Hall, Esq., late Sub-Lieutenant.

appoint
EDWARD TERRY ROBINSON, Esq.,
to be a Receiver of Land Revenue, to act within the
Land District of Westland, as from the 9th instant,
during the absence on leave of Mr. Patten.

Claims against the Estate of Richard Brown, intestate,
to be sent in to the Treasury.
WHEREAS certain property constituting the
estate of Richard Brown, who died in the
Province of Taranaki in the month of August, 1860,
intestate, and without lawful heirs, has been escheated
to the Crown: And whereas certain persons have pre-
ferred claims against the estate of the said Intestate,
and it is believed that other persons at present un-
known have similar claims: And whereas the New
Zealand Government proposes to distribute the net
proceeds of the escheated property amongst such
persons, including the children of the said Richard
Brown:
It is accordingly requested that all persons to whom
the deceased was indebted at the time of his death
will send in and prove their claims to the satisfaction
of the Commissioners of Audit at Wellington, on or
before the 1st day of May next.
No claim will be received after the date aforesaid;
but the moneys in hand will, as soon after that
date as possible, be distributed amongst the persons
establishing their claims, including the children of
the deceased, in such proportions and in such man-
ner as His Excellency the Governor shall direct.

Notice to MarinersβAlteration of Light.
NOTICE is hereby given, that on or about the first
day of June, 1877, the Floating Light (fixed) on
Tipara Reef will be discontinued, and in lieu thereof
a Revolving White Light, of the first order, showing
bright flashes every (30) thirty seconds, will be ex-
hibited from an Iron Pile Structure.
The focal plane of the Light will be 100 feet above
high watermark.
Further particulars will be furnished at an early
date.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from
the Auckland Harbour Board, is published for
general information.

NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after the 1st
proximo two Red Lights (vertical) will be exhibited
between sunset and sunrise from a lamp post erected
at the north-eastern angle or seaward extreme of the
Railway Wharf, off Point Britomart; also that a
single White Light will in like manner be shown from
the western end of the said wharf.

Appointment of Ranger.

Provincial District of Wellington.
UNDER the provisions of the 31st section of
"The Protection of Animals Act, 1873," I
hereby appoint
GEORGE HOBBS,
of Porirua Road, Wellington, Farmer, to be a Ranger
under the said 31st section, within the district com-
prised within the limits of the Hutt County, as
defined in the First Schedule of "The Counties Act,
1876," to take care that the said Protection of
Animals Act is complied with in the said district,
and to lay informations against such persons as may
offend against the same.
Given under my hand this twelfth day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-seven.
