And whereas the said Reweti Tamahiki died intes-
tate and without having made a valid disposal of his
interest or any part thereof:
And whereas at a sitting of the Native Land Court
held at Helensville, in Kaipara, in the province afore-
said, on the twenty-seventh day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six, Paora Tuhaere claimed
to succeed to the interest and share of the said Reweti
Tamahiki in the parcel of land described in the said
Schedule, and it was ordered by the said Court that
Kamutoa Tamahiki, Heni Tamahiki, Hohepa Tama-
hiki, and Mihiata Tamahiki, infants under the age
of twenty-one years, should succeed to the interest
and share of the said Reweti Tamahiki in the heredi-
taments aforesaid:
And it is expedient that Te Keene Tangaroa and
Paora Tuhaere be appointed trustees under the said
Act on behalf of the said Kamutoa Tamahiki, Heni
Tamahiki, Hohepa Tamahiki, and Mihiata Tamahiki :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the Colony, in exercise and in
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in
him by the said Act, doth hereby order that the
interests and shares of the said Kamutoa Tamahiki,
Heni Tamahiki, Hohepa Tamahiki, and Mihiata
Tamahiki, in the land described in the Schedule hereto,
shall be and remain vested in
TE KEENE TANGAROA and
PAORA TUHAERE,
as Trustees within the meaning and for the purposes
of the said Act for the said Kamutoa Tamahiki, Heni
Tamahiki, Hohepa Tamahiki, and Mihiata Tamahiki,
during their minority.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land at Wharepapa, in
the District of Kaipara, in the Provincial District of
Auckland, and called or known by the name of
"Wharepapa No. 1," containing by admeasurement
five hundred and fifty-nine acres, be the same more
or less. Bounded towards the South-east by the
"Wharepapa No. 2" Block, 5166 links and 12169
links; towards the South-west by lines 2070 links
and 2030 links; towards the North-west by the
"Whenuanui" Block, 2755 links, 7350 links, 1930
links, and by the Kapoai Stream; and towards the
North-east by the said stream and the Kaipara
River.

Authorizing the taking and laying down of a Road in
Hikutoto Block South, Hawke's Bay.
NORMANBY, Governor.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
intituled "The Native Land Act, 1873," it is
enacted that, from and out of any land which may
have heretofore been or may be granted under the
provisions of any of the Acts thereby repealed, or of
that Act, it shall be lawful for the Governor, at any
time thereafter, to take and lay off for public pur-
poses one or more line or lines of road or railway
through the said lands: Provided that the total
quantity of land which may be taken for such line or
lines of road shall not be more than after the rate of
five acres in every one hundred acres: Provided
always that this power shall cease and determine at
the expiration of ten years from the date of the
Crown grant:
And whereas it is expedient that a fit and proper
person should be authorized to take and lay down a
road on the land specified in the Crown grant men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, I, the Marquis of Normanby,
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling
me in this behalf, do hereby authorize Edward Henry
Bold, District Engineer, of Napier, to take and lay
down a road on the land specified in the Crown
grant mentioned in the Schedule, and for that pur-
pose to exercise all such powers as by the said Act
may be exercised by a person legally authorized in
that behalf under the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
HIKUTOTO Block South, number 43N, containing 146
acres, situated at Hikutoto, in the Ahuriri District,
in the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay. Grant
dated the 22nd May, 1867.

Governor, this twelfth day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
seven.
