Determining Land to be Site for the Town of
Rangitoto.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the thirty-second section of "The
Westland Waste Lands Act, 1870," it is
enacted that the sites of towns shall from time to
time be determined by the Governor upon the re-
commendation of the County Council, and shall be
notified by Proclamation in the Province of Westland
Gazette:

And whereas by the sixty-seventh section of "The
Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876," it is pro-
vided that the recommendation aforesaid shall be
made by the Waste Lands Board instead of by the
County Council: And whereas the said Waste
Lands Board has recommended that the land described
in the Schedule hereto should be a site for a town
within the meaning of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of New Zealand, in
exercise and pursuance of all powers and authorities
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby determine and
fix the land described in the Schedule hereto to be a
site for a town within the meaning of the thirty-
second section of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

TOWN OF RANGITOTO.

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment one hundred and eighty-eight (188) acres,
more or less, situate in the Totara District, near
Mount Rangitoto, in the Provincial District of
Westland, and numbered one hundred and fifty-four
(154) in red. Bounded on the North-eastward by a
line commencing at a point on the east side of
Palmer Creek, about twenty chains north from its
junction with the left-hand branch of the Waitaha
River; thence South-easterly in a straight line to a
point forty chains south-east from Mine Creek, and
twenty chains north-east from Flat Creek; on the
South-eastward by a line running south-westerly (at
a right angle with the last-mentioned boundary) for
twenty chains to the northern bank of Flat Creek;
on the Southward by a line following Flat Creek,
Mine Creek, and left-hand branch of Waitaha River
to Palmer Creek; and bounded on the North-west-
ward by a line following up Palmer Creek in a
north-easterly direction to the commencing point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
