Prohibition of Importation of Cattle, Sheep, and Swine
into New Zealand.
NORMANBY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fifteenth day of December, 1876.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the second section of "The Ani-
mals Importation Prohibition Act, 1876," it
is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor
in Council may from time to time make such
Orders as may seem to be necessary for the pur-
pose of absolutely prohibiting the introduction
into New Zealand, from any country, of all cattle,
sheep, or swine: And whereas it appears to the
satisfaction of the Governor in Council that disease
exists or is believed to exist among cattle, sheep, and
swine in all the countries of the Continent of Europe,
including Great Britain and Ireland, and it is expe-
dient to prohibit the introduction into New Zealand
of such animals as hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise
of the power and authority vested in him by the herein-
before in part recited Act, and of all other powers and
authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council there-
of, doth hereby order and direct that, from and after
the fifteenth day of April next, the introduction
into New Zealand of cattle, sheep, or swine from
any country or place in the Continent of Europe,
including Great Britain and Ireland, shall be and the
same is hereby absolutely prohibited and forbidden;
and in further pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority vested in him by the hereinbefore in
part recited Act, and of all other powers and
authorities enabling him in that behalf, and with the
like advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doth hereby prescribe and direct that this Order in
Council shall remain in force until the expiration of
two years from the said fifteenth day of April,
unless this Order in Council is in the meantime
revoked.

Annuity Tables to be used after 31st December, 1876.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
fifteenth day of December, 1876.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the fifth section of "The Govern-
ment Insurance and Annuities Act, 1874"
(hereinafter referred to as "the said Act"), it is
enacted that the Governor shall have power, by Order
in Council, from time to time to do, inter alia, the
following things:----
To direct the use of tables approved from
time to time by him for determining the values
of all annuities under the provisions of this
Act, and of tables so approved for payment of
sums of money at death and otherwise under
the provisions of this Act; and such tables
respectively shall be valid and effectual so long
as the same shall remain in force; and
To revoke all or any of such tables, and to
direct the use of other tables approved as
aforesaid:
And whereas by an Order in Council made the
twenty-second day of October, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette of the seventh day of November, in
the same year: And whereas by an Order in Council
made the twenty-fourth day of January, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-two, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh
January, in the same year, certain Tables for deter-
mining the Values of Annuities, and for Payment
of Sums of Money at Death and otherwise, in
the Schedule to the said Order in Council, were
approved of: And whereas it is expedient that
certain of the said Tables should be revoked, and that
other tables should be adopted in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the said Act,
and by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Colony, do hereby
revoke and recall the Tables numbered I., II.,
and III. in the Schedule to the first herein-
before mentioned Order in Council, and Table num-
