South-east by the Waiau River ; towards the
South, South-west, and South-east by the ocean ;
and towards the West by Fiord County.

Bounded on the South by Fortrose and Wai-

Riding ; on the North by a line being the con-
tinuation of the north boundary of Block III.,
Lothian District, to the Mataura River ; on the
West by the Mataura River ; again on the
North by the north boundary of Blocks III., VI.,
and VII., Tuturau District, and the north
boundary of Block III. continued east till it
meets the main road ; thence by a line along
the middle of the main road in an easterly direc-
tion till it strikes the east boundary of Southland
County ; and towards the East by Clutha County.
Mararoa
Bounded towards the North and East by Lake
County ; again towards the East by part of the
Southland County ; towards the South and
South-west by Wairio and Waiau Ridings ; and
towards the West by Fiord County.
Gore
Bounded towards the South by Wyndham

and Winton Riding to North Peak ; again

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Counties Act, 1876," it is,
among other things, enacted that the Governor
in Council shall, by Proclamation, determine the
number of Councillors to be elected by each riding,
but so that the Council shall consist of not less than
six nor more than nine members, exclusive of the
Chairman; and there shall be at least one Councillor
for each riding:
Wakaia
towards the South-west and West by the middle
of the Mataura River ; towards the North-west
by Lake County ; towards the North by Vincent
County ; and towards the East by Tuapeka and
Clutha Counties.
Oreti
Bounded towards the South-west and South
by the Winton Riding ; towards the West by
Wallace County ; towards the North-east by
Lake County ; and towards the East by Wakaia
Riding and Gore Riding.
WALLACE COUNTY.
Aparima
Bounded towards the North by the north
boundary of Jacob's River Hundred, and a line
in continuation thereof to the Waimatuku
River ; on the East by Southland County ; on
the South by the sea ; and on the West by the
west boundary of Jacob's River Hundred.
Otautau
Bounded on the North by the Wairio and
part of the Taringatura Districts ; on the East
by the Southland County ; on the South by the
Aparima Riding ; on the West by the west
boundary of the Aparima Hundred.
Orepuki
Bounded on the North by an east and west
line in transit with Ferndunlaw, from the west
boundary of Otautau Riding to the Waiau
River ; on the East by part of Otautau and
Aparima Ridings ; towards the South and South-
west by the sea ; towards the North-west by the
Waiau River.
Wairio
Bounded towards the North-west and North
by the north-west and northern boundaries of
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
hereinbefore recited authority, and by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
number of Councillors to be elected by each riding
named in the second column of the Schedule hereto,
being ridings of the counties mentioned in the first
column of the said Schedule, shall be that mentioned
in the third column of the said Schedule, opposite the
name of each such riding respectively.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Commander of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-eighth day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-six.
