Appointment of Executive Officers in Provincial
Districts.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 1st November, 1876.
HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased, in
pursuance of the twelfth section of "The
Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," by Warrant
under his hand, to appoint the under-mentioned
gentlemen to perform those duties and exercise those
powers within the provincial district set forth oppo-
site the name of each respectively, which might, if
such duties and powers had to be performed and
exercised within the respective provinces hitherto
designated by the names of such provincial districts,
be performed or exercised by the Superintendents
thereof.
His Excellency has also been pleased, in pursuance
of the eighth section of the above-recited Act, by
Warrant under his hand, to appoint the same gentle-
men, within the same provincial districts, to perform
and exercise all powers, duties, and functions, which,
immediately before the date of the abolition of pro-
vinces, were vested in or to be performed by the Pro-
vincial Treasurer, Provincial Secretary, or other public
officer of the respective provinces so designated as
aforesaid.

pursuance of the provisions of "The Provincial
Appropriations Extension Act, 1876," by Warrant
under his hand, to empower the under-mentioned
gentlemen, within the provincial district set opposite
the name of each respectively, to sign and issue any
instrument, warrant, or authority that may be neces-
sary under any law or ordinance which may be
affected by the operation of the said Act:—

appoint
PETER MACDONALD, Esq.,
to be the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages
for the District of Kawau, as the same is defined in
Proclamation of the 29th day of May, 1873, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 71, of the
11th day of December, 1873.

IT is hereby notified that, under the provisions of
"The Public Health Act, 1872," His Excellency
the Governor has been pleased to appoint the under-
mentioned gentlemen to be Public Vaccinators, to
perform gratuitous vaccination in accordance with
the provisions of the said Act, and any Regulations
made or to be made thereunder, for the districts
mentioned in the Schedule hereto and set opposite
their names.

Prince of Wales' Birthday a Public Holiday.

THURSDAY next, the 9th instant, being the
Birthday of His Royal Highness the Prince of
Wales, will be observed as a Public Holiday in honor
of the occasion; and the Departments of the General
Government will be closed accordingly, with the
exception of the Customs, Post Office, Telegraph, and
Railway Offices.
