the several Acts amending the same, and other Acts,
certain lines of railway have been constructed by
and Public Works Act, 1875," the Governor in
laws applicable to all railways constructed by him
under the authority of the said hereinbefore men-
tioned Acts, and actually open for traffic, whether
the whole of such railway shall have been completed
or not; and whenever it shall be necessary to
extend the operation of such regulations and by-
laws to any particular railway, it shall be lawful
for the Governor, by a notification published in
the New Zealand Gazette, to extend the operation
of such by-laws to the railway or railways named
therein; and that, from and after a day to be fixed
in such notification, the regulations and by-laws so
made as aforesaid shall for all purposes be, and be
deemed to be, the regulations and by-laws in force
for the railway or railways named therein:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor
of New Zealand, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council thereof, and in exercise
and pursuance of all powers and authorities en-
abling him in this behalf, doth hereby extend the
operation of the By-laws, Rules, and Regulations
published in the New Zealand Gazette, Nos. 8 and 27,
of 10th February and 11th May, 1876, respectively,
to the portion of the line of railway mentioned in the
Schedule hereto; said By-laws, Rules, and Regula-
tions to be from that date deemed to be the Regula-
tions and By-laws in force for the portion of the line
of railway mentioned in the Schedule aforesaid.

on the Foxton to Manawatu Railway—(Foxton
Wharf*), in substitution of those fixed by Order
in Council, dated 15th December, 1874.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-fourth day of October, 1876.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS under the provisions of "The Im-
migration and Public Works Act, 1870," and
the several Acts amending the same, and other Acts,
the line of railway mentioned and described in the
Second Schedule hereto has been constructed by the
Governor within the Colony of New Zealand: And
whereas under the provisions of the said hereinbefore
mentioned Acts, and the enactments incorporated
therewith, the Governor in Council is empowered to
make rates and charges for the following purposes,
that is to say,—
For regulating the receipt and delivery of goods
and other things in connection with the said
railway:
And whereas it is expedient that the rates and
charges, as contained and set forth in the First
Schedule hereto, should be made in respect of the
said railway, in substitution of the rates and charges
made by Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
four:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council thereof, and in exercise and pur-
suance of all powers and authorities enabling him in
this behalf, doth hereby make and approve of the
rates and charges set forth in the First Schedule
hereto, as the rates and charges to be in force with
regard to the wharf in connection with the said rail-
way so made and constructed by the Governor as
aforesaid, and which is more particularly mentioned
in the Second Schedule hereto annexed.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
FOXTON WHARF RATES.
Goods of all kinds, at per ton ... ... 2 s. 6 d.
Receiving and delivering, at per ton ... 1 0
Timber, at per 100 superficial feet ... 0 3
Cattle and horses, per head ... ... 0 6
Sheep, pigs, goats, &c., per head ... 0 2

Storage will be charged on all goods not taken
away within twelve working hours, at the rate of
two shillings per ton per week or fraction of a week,
and double this rate for every week or fraction of a
week afterwards.
Timber remaining over one week to be charged
twopence per 100 feet superficial, per week.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in him by "The Post Office
Act, 1876," his Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth
hereby make the following regulations with respect
to the issue and transmission of Post Cards.
REGULATIONS.
ON and from the 1st November next, Post Cards
will be issued to the public by the Post Office
under the following Regulations, and will be sold in
packets of six cards for sixpence:—

Post Cards, whether official or private, having a
stamp of one penny impressed upon them, may be
transmitted between places in the Colony of New
Zealand; and to certain other places, hereafter men-
tioned, at letter rates. -
The front, or stamped side of the card, is for the
address only, and, beyond the written or printed
address, nothing whatever must be printed or written
upon that side of the card. On the reverse side,
any communication, whether of the nature of a letter
or otherwise, may be printed or written. Nothing
whatever may be attached to the card, nor may it
be folded, cut, or otherwise altered. If any of the
above conditions be infringed, the card shall be
charged one penny on delivery.
