Reports of Cattle Inspectors.

THE following Returns, received from the Inspectors of Cattle for the Districts of Kaikoura and
Canterbury, are published for general information.
DANIEL POLLEN.

PROVINCE OF MARLBOROUGH.

RETURN of CATTLE inspected within the DISTRICT of KAIKOURA, MARLBOROUGH, not brought by Sea,
within the Six Months ended the 30th MARCH, 1876, which have been found to be affected with any
Contagious or Infectious Disease.

THIRTY cattle were examined by me (post mortem) up to March 30th, 1876, and, with five exceptions, all were
suffering from chronic lung disease. I am unable to give full particulars, as my books and papers are at
Kaikoura.

at KAIKOURA, from 1st OCTOBER, 1875, to 30th MARCH, 1876.

RETURN of CATTLE arrived from FOREIGN PORTS into the PORT of LYTTELTON, and landed at
LYTTELTON, from 31st MARCH, 1875, to 30th SEPTEMBER, 1875.

19 "Omeo" Melbourne 2 thorough-bred and 1 cart entireโ€” colonial bred Mr. Holly Good.
June 22 "Cicero" London... 1 cow (Hereford) Colonel Whitmore Good.
June 30 "Omeo" Melbourne 12 horses, cart do. Mr. E. Dixon Good.
July 25 "Southern Cross" Hobarton 14 horsesโ€”13 cart, 1 Arab Messrs. Matson and Co. Medium.
July 31 "Orari" London 7 bulls (short-horns) Messrs. Russell and Grigg Good.
31 "Albion" Melbourne 2 ponies. These ponies were not allowed to be landed, as the re- quired certificate from Melbourne was not brought, nor were they examined previous to being put on board ship at Melbourne Mr. Thomas Good.
August 21 "John Knox" Sydney 1 horse, harness do. J. R. Hill Good.
September 16... "Aldelphoid" Newcastle, N.S.W. 2 ponies. These were same ponies, dated July 31st, from Melbourne, put on board the barque "Aldel- phoid," taken to Newcastle, N.S.W., landed there and inspected, brought back to Lyttelton with certificate, and landed Mr. Thomas
