Lands declared to be Waste Lands of the Crown.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS under the provisions of "The Immi-
gration and Public Works Act, 1870," the
Governor was empowered from time to time, in the
name and on behalf of Her Majesty, to purchase or
in any way acquire any land in the North Island
of New Zealand, or any interests therein, which
the owners might be willing to sell, convey, or sur-
render, as therein mentioned: And whereas by "The
Immigration and Public Works Act, 1873," it is
enacted that whenever the Governor is satisfied that
any lands purchased out of the sums of two hundred
thousand (200,000) pounds and five hundred thousand
(500,000) pounds therein mentioned are free from
Native claims and all difficulties in connection there-
with, he shall by Proclamation declare such lands
to be waste lands of the Crown, subject, except as
hereafter provided, to be sold and dealt with accord-
ing to the provisions of the laws for the time being
in force in the province in which such land is,
regulating the sale and disposal of waste lands of
the Crown within such province; and thereupon
such lands so proclaimed shall become subject to
such provisions: And whereas the lands described
in the Schedule hereto have been purchased out of
the sum of two hundred thousand (200,000) pounds
declared to be applicable for the purchase of lands in
the North Island under the provisions of Part Four
(IV.) of "The Immigration and Public Works Act,
1870," and the further sum of five hundred thousand
(500,000) pounds declared to be applicable for the
purchase of lands in the North Island under the pro-
visions of section 3 of "The Immigration and Public
Works Act, 1873:" And whereas it is expedient
that the said lands should be declared to be waste
lands as hereinafter set forth: Now, therefore, I, the
Most Honorable George Augustus Constantine, Mar-
quis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, being satisfied that the lands described
in the Schedule hereto are free from Native claims
and all difficulties in connection therewith, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by "The Immigration and Public Works
Act, 1873," do hereby proclaim and declare the said
lands to be waste lands of the Crown, subject (except
as by the said Act is provided) to be sold and dealt
with according to the provisions of the laws for the
time being in force in the Province of Auckland
regulating the sale and disposal of waste lands of the
Crown within such province.
SCHEDULE.
TANGIHUA.
ALL that parcel of land in the Whangarei District,
Province of Auckland, containing by admeasure-
ment fifteen thousand six hundred (15600) acres
more or less, called or known as Tangihua. Bounded
towards the North-east by a line ten thousand six
hundred and thirty (10630) links; towards the East
by the Waionepu River, and by lines six hundred and
thirty-two (632) links, one thousand four hundred
and thirty-two (1432) links, one thousand (1,000) links,
three thousand four hundred and forty-five (3445)
links, and five thousand eight hundred and seventy
(5870) links; towards the North by lines one thousand
eight hundred and twenty-six (1826) links, one
thousand eight hundred and thirty (1830) links, one
thousand six hundred and one (1601) links, one thou-
sand and thirty (1030) links, nine hundred and eighty
(980) links, one thousand and thirty (1030) links,
two thousand two hundred and ninety-six (2296)
links, three thousand three hundred and sixty-five
(3365) links, nine hundred and fifty (950) links,
seven hundred and seventy-five (775) links, and four
thousand three hundred and fifty-six (4356) links :
again towards the North East by lines one thousand
one hundred and sixty-two (1162) links, three thou-
sand five hundred and ninety (3590) links, five
thousand three hundred and ninety-six (5396) links,
and one thousand three hundred and seventy (1870)
links; again towards the East by land granted to
Mr. Walton, one hundred (100) links, eight hundred
and thirty-nine (839) links, and four thousand two
hundred and forty-five (4245) links; towards the
South-East by the said land granted to Mr. Walton,
