Circuit Court to be held at Wellington in July next.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At Wellington, this thirtieth day of May, 1876.
Present:
THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Supreme Court Act, 1860,"
it is enacted that there shall be held Circuit
Courts for the despatch of civil and criminal business
of the Court before one of the Judges thereof, at
such places and times as the Governor in Council
may from time to time appoint:
And whereas by Order in Council made the first
day of November, in the year one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-one, the Governor appointed
Circuit Courts to be held within the Wellington
District, at the Supreme Court House at Wellington,
on the first Monday in each of the months of
January, April, July, and October in each and every
year:
And whereas it is expedient that a Circuit Court
of the Supreme Court should be held on Monday,
the tenth day of July next, in lieu of the Circuit
Court appointed by the said recited Order in Council
to be held at Wellington on Monday, the third day
of July next:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Colony, in exercise and pursuance of the power and
authority vested in him by "The Supreme Court
Act, 1860," doth hereby revoke the said in part
recited Order in Council so far, but so far only, as
the same appoints a Circuit Court of the Supreme
Court to be held in the Wellington District on the
first Monday in July next, at the Supreme Court
House at Wellington; and doth hereby appoint that,
in lieu of the Circuit Court so appointed to be held,
there shall be held in the said district, at the Supreme
Court House at Wellington, on Monday, the tenth
day of July next, a Circuit Court for the despatch of
civil and criminal business of the said Court.

Civil Service Examination Regulations.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 15th June, 1876.
THE Regulations for the Examination of Candi-
dates for employment in the Civil Service, dated
11th November, 1874, and published in Gazette, No.
59, of 12th November, 1874, shall, from the 1st
January, 1877, be rescinded, and the following
amended Regulations, approved by His Excellency
the Governor, shall then be in force, and are now
published for general information.

REGULATIONS RESPECTING EXAMINATIONS
UNDER "THE CIVIL SERVICE ACT, 1866."
-
Every candidate for examination must apply to
be examined in a form to be prescribed by the Board,
such application to be addressed to the Secretary,
and, in the case of persons not now in the Civil
Service or candidates for employment therein, to be
accompanied by a fee of two guineas. -
The examination shall be divided into two
branches, the one qualifying for appointment, the
other qualifying for promotion to any class above
the fourth. One branch shall be called the JUNIOR
EXAMINATION and the other branch shall be called
the SENIOR EXAMINATION. -
Every candidate must pass the Junior Examina-
tion (see section 8) before he shall be eligible for any
appointment in the Civil Service. Exceptions:—
(1.) Any candidate who shall have passed the
annual examinations by the New Zealand
University shall be considered as eligible for
appointment in the Civil Sevice: Provided
that the Civil Service Examination Board is
satisfied that the candidate has passed in all
the subjects required by the Civil Service
Regulations, and that a certificate to that
effect is given in each case.
(2.) A degree in any University cited in Statutes
VII., VIII., and IX., of the New Zealand
University (viz. Oxford, Cambridge, Glasgow,
Aberdeen, St. Andrew's, Edinburgh, Dublin,
Durham, London, Queen's University of Ire-
land, Sydney, or Melbourne) shall enable the
recipient to enter the Civil Service of New
Zealand without further examination.
- Every person appointed under these Regulations
must pass the Senior Examination (see section 9)
before he shall be eligible for promotion.
