Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Messrs. Kempthorne,
Prosser, and Co., of Dunedin, Merchants, have
applied on behalf of CHARLES LESLIE BRIGHT, of
London, England, to register under "The Trade
Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description, viz,–

Description of Trade Mark on Dr. Bright's
Phosphodyne.

The Phosphodyne is contained in a blue transparent
octagonal-shaped phial with a short neck; on the
bottle are blown or raised the words
"Dr. Bright's
Phosphodyne."

Each bottle is made up in strong case or packet of
cardboard, cloth covered, and with it are Dr. Bright's
directions in English, French, and German, together
with a pamphlet, with testimonials, &c.

The Trade Mark consists of a printed and illumi-
nated advertisement on the front of each package, and
also on the outside wrapper, on which is imprinted
the Royal Arms, and an illustration of a ship, harbour,
locomotive, jetty; and cases marked "Phosphodyne"
and the following words, and facsimile of signature:

"Under Patronage Distinguished."
"Patented Oct. 11th, 1869."

"Registered
Trade Mark."

"Dr. Bright's
Phosphodyne."

"This medicine, after repeated trials, has obtained
the unqualified approbation of the entire faculty."

"CHARLES LESLIE BRIGHT, M.D."

The outside wrapper bears a duty stamp of 1s.
Nature of the Article to which it is proposed such
Trade Mark shall apply.

A Medicine for indigestion and other diseases,
called "Dr. Bright's Phosphodyne," prepared by
Charles Leslie Bright.

Inquiry for a Missing Person.

INQUIRIES have been made for a person named
EDWARD JOHN,
who called himself "Edward Johnson," in New
Zealand.

He is of middle size, has light blue eyes, brown
hair, and a Roman nose.

He arrived in New Zealand about seventeen years
ago in the "Queen of the East" from Liverpool, and
when last heard of, about nine years ago, was at New
Plymouth, in the 5th Company Taranaki Military
Settlers. Any person possessing any information
respecting the person above named is requested to
communicate the same to this office.

PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following names of Officiating Ministers
within the meaning of the said Act are published for
general information:—

Claim under "The Lost Land Order Act, 1861."

I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed
by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of
New Zealand, intituled "The Lost Land Order Act,
1861," to hear and decide claims for Crown grants of
lands for which the original land orders have been
lost or destroyed, report that the claim of Annie
Pidsley Currie, of Laura Lodge, Weston, near Bath,
in England, having been referred to me, I do hereby
decide that the aforesaid claimant is entitled to select
one hundred acres of rural land in right of Land
Order No. 565, in accordance with a report of the
