line of the street. All such entrance openings are
to be covered level with the surface of the footway
with strong wooden close covers, having no pro-
jections of rings, hinges, or fastenings above the
surface of the covers. In all cases the footpath is to
be made good round any lighting or entrance aper-
ture.

Every oven, furnace, close fire, or forge, for the
purpose of trade or manufacture, must be six inches
at the least distant from any party wall, and must
not be upon or within a distance of eighteen inches
of any timber or woodwork; and the floor on or
above which such oven, furnace, close fire, orforge shall
be built or fixed must be formed and paved under
same, and for a distance of two feet all round same,
with stone, brick, tile, or slate, at the least two
inches thick, or with other proper incombustible
non-conducting materials. -
Every building already erected or that may be
hereafter erected in the said town, whether such
building be built upon new or old foundations, or
upon foundations partly old and partly new, or
whether such building be an addition to any building
already erected or which may be hereafter erected,
shall be subject to the control and supervision of the
Council, and shall be erected, added to, altered, re-
newed, or repaired in accordance with the foregoing
regulations. -
No tent shall be erected and placed within
thirty feet of any permanent erection or building;
nor shall any tent be erected and placed within forty
feet of any similar construction; and the word "tent"
shall mean and include any erection in which the
whole or any part or parts of the sides, frame, or
roof shall be made or constructed of canvas, calico,
linen, or other textile material.

A Regulation made under the authority of section
3, subdivision 2, part 7, of the Thirteenth Schedule
of said Act, "For prescribing the distance from any
adjoining land, or from any building, within which it
shall not be lawful to make or keep any stack of Hay,
Corn, Straw, or other produce, if not placed under
roof or cover."
It shall not be lawful to make or keep any stack
of hay, corn, straw, or other agricultural produce
belonging to the class of cereals stored in the open
air, at a less distance than thirty feet from any
building and street line and from the land of adjoin-
ing owner.

Town of Clyde, this fifth day of January,

A Regulation made under the authority of section
1, subdivision 1, part 8, of the Thirteenth Schedule of
said Act, "For appointing limits within which it shall
not be lawful to keep any Swine."
It shall not be lawful to keep any swine within the
limits of the Municipality, except by permission of
the Council.

Council of Hokitika, are published in accord-
ance with the provisions of "The Municipal Corpora-
tions Act Amendment Act, 1875."

HOKITIKA MUNICIPAL CORPORATION.
REGULATIONS FOR HAWKERS AND PEDLERS.
REGULATIONS made by the Council of the Borough
of Hokitika, in pursuance of Section 88 of sub-
division IV. of Part X. of Schedule 13 of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," and Amend-
ment Acts.
In pursuance of the said Schedule of the said Act,
the Council of the Borough of Hokitika make the
following Regulations, that is to say, -
-
Every person who shall sell, cry, or offer for
sale any goods, wares, fish, fruit, farm or dairy pro-
duce, or other merchandise then in his actual pos-
session in the streets or other public places within
the Borough of Hokitika shall be deemed a hawker
or pedler, and shall be required to take out a
license. -
Every such license shall be issued by the Town
Clerk, to any person applying for same, on the pay-
ment of the sum of one pound, and shall be in
force for one year from the date of the issue thereof. -
If any person holding such licenses as afore-
said be convicted of selling stolen goods or merchan-
dise he shall forfeit his license. -
The Town Clerk shall keep a register of the
names and places of abode of all persons to whom
such licenses shall be issued, and such register may
be inspected by any person at any reasonable time.
Passed by the Council of the said Borough of
Hokitika, this eighteenth day of February,
A.D. one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-six.

Regulation for depositing Nightsoil, Offal, and Refuse.
REGULATION of the Council of the Borough of
Thames, made by Resolution agreed to by the
Council of the Borough of Thames on the 2nd day
of March, 1876, and sealed with the Common Seal
of the Council of the said Borough, on the 7th day
of March, 1876.
In pursuance of section 73, subdivision 2 of Part 10
of the 13th Schedule to " The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867," the Council of the Borough of Thames
repeal section 4 of Regulation No. 3 of the Council
of the Borough of Thames, and in lieu thereof make
the following regulation, that is to say, -
No nightman or contractor for the removal of
nightsoil shall deposit any nightsoil, offal, filth, rub-
bish, or other offensive refuse or matter, or empty
