DISCOVERY OF A SHOAL NEAR FIJI.
Office of the Marine Board of New South Wales,
25th February, 1876.

CAPTAIN WILSON, of the schooner "Zephyr," reports
the existence of an extensive shoal, on which there is
said to be a rock awash, in latitude 15° 58′ S., longi-
tude 177° 10′ W. This position was deduced from
indifferent sights.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given, that A. de B. Brandon,
Esq., Solicitor, of Wellington, has applied on
behalf of Mr. GEORGE GLEDHILL, of Auckland, to
register, under "The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the
Trade Mark of which the following is a description,
viz.,-

Description of Trade Mark.

An oval-shaped label; extreme dimensions, 3½
inches high, by 2½ inches broad; surrounded by
two black oval lines, with an intervenient space ⅛
inch wide, on the upper portion of which are printed
in black letters on a white ground the words "This
Label and Trade Mark is registered, and is only
issued by G. Gledhill." Inside of this space and ⅛
inch distant from it, is another black oval line, form-
ing another oval space or band, on the upper portion
of which are printed the words "Bottled by", and
on the lower portion the name "G. Gledhill," in
white letters with black outline, on a red ground.

In almost the centre of, and horizontally across the
label, is drawn the design of a lanceolate-shaped
white band, the outside points of which nearly extend
to the extreme outer oval enclosing line; on this
band are printed the words "Champagne Cider" in
black letters on white ground; inside of this band is
the design of a shield, quartered by a white cross,
the four quartered parts containing the four letters
G. G. A. N. The shield is surmounted by a crest,
being the design of an eagle with spread wings. On
the right and left hand side of shield are printed in
black letters on a red ground the words "Trade
Mark" and the signature "George Gledhill." In
the space above the lanceolate-shaped band, but within
the inner oval line, are printed in black letters on a
red and white ground the words "Wellesley St.";
and below the lanceolate-shaped band, within the
inner oval line, the words "Auckland, N.Z.," also
printed in black letters on a red and white ground.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given, that Samuel Carroll, Esq.,
Patents Agent, and Agent for the Registration
of Trade Marks, of Wellington, has applied on behalf
of WEBLEY BROTHERS, of Nelson, in the Province of
Nelson, to register under "The Trade Marks Act,
1866," the Trade Mark of which the following is a
description, viz.,-

Description of Trade Mark.

On a paper or card label an Oval Scroll about 1¾
inch by 1⅝ inch, having the words in the scroll
"Webley Brothers" at top, and "Nelson, New
Zealand," at bottom, with three stars on each side
between. This scroll surrounds a figure of a bale of
merchandise with three bands and the words "Trade
Mark" thereon. Resting on the bale is a representa-
tion of six rolls of cloth. The size of this figure is
1½ inch by ⅝ of an inch. Above this figure, in a
fancy scroll, are the words "Advance, New Zealand."

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.

Cloth, called "Webley's Nelson Cloth."

a Depositary of Duties Stamps.

Award of Sinking Fund Commissioners under "The
Public Debts Sinking Funds Act, 1868."

KNOW all men by these presents, that whereas
by "The Public Debts Sinking Funds Act,
1868," it is provided that if and whenever it shall be
made to appear to the Commissioners of the Public
Debts Sinking Funds, that any of the debentures
issued under any of the Acts or Ordinances specified
in the First or Second Schedules thereto have been
converted or exchanged for debentures issued under
"The Consolidated Loan Act, 1867," the Commis-
sioners shall, from time to time, determine what
amount of the Sinking Fund held by them, and
created for the payment of such first-mentioned
debentures, shall be released, and that the Com-
missioners shall make such determination by an
award in writing: And whereas it has been made to
appear to the said Commissioners that debentures to
the amount of fifty thousand pounds, being the whole
of the debentures issued under "The Otago Public
Buildings Loan Ordinance, 1862," being one of the
Ordinances named in the Second Schedule to the said
"Public Debts Sinking Funds Act, 1868," have been
converted or exchanged for debentures issued under
"The Consolidated Loan Act, 1867:" And whereas
the sum of seventeen thousand four hundred and four
pounds four shillings and twopence is held by the
said Commissioners as accumulated sinking fund for
the repayment of the said loan of fifty thousand
pounds:

Now know ye that the Commissioners of the Public
Debts Sinking Funds, by this their award in writing,
do determine that the sum of seventeen thousand
four hundred and four pounds four shillings and two-
pence, being the whole of the said accumulated sink-
ing fund so held by them for the payment of the
