IT is notified, for general information, that the Rules
and Regulations for the competition for the
General Government Prize Firing, 1876, are now
published, and can be obtained from the Officers
commanding the several Militia Districts.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
No. 26 of 1875.

Customs Department (Marine Branch),
Wellington, 6th November, 1875.
NOTICE is hereby given, that the Provincial
Harbour Light at New Plymouth. The light has
been exhibited, from the 1st instant, from the flagstaff
on Mount Elliot; it is a fixed white light, showing
all round seaward, and is elevated 75 feet above the
level of the sea.

Certificate Suspended.

Customs Department (Marine Branch),
Wellington, 6th November, 1875.
IT is hereby notified, that His Excellency the Go-
vernor has been pleased to confirm the sentence
of the Court of Inquiry, held at Dunedin, into the
cause of the wreck of the steamer "Bruce," which
suspended the New Zealand Certificate of Competency
as Mate, Home Trade (No. 5040), held by
WILLIAM CORMACK,
for a period of three months; and the New Zealand
Certificate of Competency as Master (No. 26), held
by
FREDERICK JONES,
for twelve months. His Excellency has however,
shortened the period of suspension of Frederick
Jones's Certificate from twelve to six months.
These suspensions will take effect from the 22nd
October last.
