Governor's Assent withheld from Provincial
Ordinance.

THE following Ordinance, passed by the Provincial
Council, and reserved by the Superintendent
of Canterbury for the signification of His Excellency's
pleasure thereon, intituled
"The Fencing Ordinance, 1875,"
having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency
has been pleased to withhold his assent from the same.

Provincial Registration Officer appointed for Province
of Canterbury.

Wellington, 11th August, 1875.
HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint
JOHN MARSHMAN, Esq.,
to be Registration Officer for the Province of Canter-
bury, for the purpose of forming Electoral Rolls for
the Election of Superintendents and Members of the
Provincial Council of the said Province, in accordance
with the provisions of "The Provincial Elections
Act, 1858."

Local Analyst for Canterbury appointed.

Wellington, 12th August, 1875.
HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased,
in conformity with the provisions of "The
Adulteration of Food Act, 1866," to approve the
appointment, by His Honor the Superintendent of
Canterbury, of
ALEXANDER WILLIAM BICKERTON, Esq., F.C.S.,
to be a Local Analyst under the said Act, within the
Province of Canterbury.

Deputy Registrars of Marriages &c. appointed.

Wellington, 5th August, 1875.
HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint the under-mentioned gentlemen to
the Deputies of the Registrars of Marriages, and of
Births, Deaths, and Marriages, for the districts set
opposite their names, as the same are defined in
Proclamation of the 8th day of May, 1873, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 28, of the
9th day of May, 1873.
