Her Majesty's assent to "An Act to provide for the
Surrender of Fugitive Criminals."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act passed in the Session of
Parliament held in the fifteenth and sixteenth
years of Her Majesty's reign, intituled "An Act to
grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of
New Zealand," it is, amongst other things, enacted
that no Bill which shall be reserved for the significa-
tion of Her Majesty's pleasure thereon shall have
any force or authority within the Colony of New
Zealand until the Governor of the said colony shall
signify by Speech or Message to the Legislative
Council and House of Representatives of the said
colony, or by Proclamation, that such Bill has been
laid before Her Majesty in Council, and that Her
Majesty has been pleased to assent to the same:
And whereas a certain Bill passed by the Legis-
lative Council and House of Representatives of the
said colony, intituled "An Act to provide for the
Surrender of Fugitive Criminals," was presented to
assent, and the said Bill was reserved for the
signification of Her Majesty's pleasure thereon:
Now therefore, I, the Governor of New Zealand,
in pursuance of the provisions of the said in part
recited Act, do by this Proclamation signify and
proclaim to all whom it may concern that the said
Bill has been laid before Her Majesty in Council,
and that Her Majesty has been pleased to assent to
the same.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Council;
Knight Commander of the Most Dis-
tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depend-
encies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of
July, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

Extending Boundaries of the Town of Carlyle.
NORMANBY, Governor.
WHEREAS a town hath been surveyed and laid
out near the mouth of the Patea River, in
the Province of Taranaki, and officially designated as
Carlyle: And whereas it is expedient for public pur-
poses that the said Town of Carlyle should be ex-
tended:
Now therefore, I, the Marquis of Normanby, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise
and pursuance of all powers and authorities in me
vested in that behalf, do hereby authorize the
extension of the boundaries of the said Town of
Carlyle, so as to include the lands specified in the
Schedule hereto, as the said boundaries are delineated
upon the plan deposited in the office of the Secre-
tary for Crown Lands, authenticated for the pur-
pose of this notice by the signature of the Officer
in Charge of Confiscated Lands, West Coast District.
ERRATA. In New Zealand Gazette of July 22, 1875, No. 43, at page 492, for "thirteenth day of October," read "thirtieth
day of October," and at page 493, for "Order in Council of thirteenth day of October," read "Warrant under the
hand of His Excellency the Governor of the thirtieth day of of October."
