THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
The deaths from Zymotic Diseases were 33 in June, against 81 in May. The reduction was principally attributable to the
largely decreased number of deaths from Measles (6 in June, 26 in May), Typhoid Fever (17 in June, 27 in May), and Dysentery
and Diarrhea (1 in June, 13 in May).
Of the 17 deaths from Typhoid Fever, 4 occurred in Auckland, 1 in the Thames Borough, 3 in Wellington, 5 in Christ-
church, and 4 in Dunedin.
The deaths from Local Diseases were 76 in June, against 73 in May; and the deaths from Developmental Diseases were 12
in June, against 20 in May.
There were 5 Violent Deaths in June, against 12 in May. One of the Violent Deaths, in Christchurch, occurred through
injuries received upon the railway.
