EIGHTH MATCH-(Skirmishing).

Targets, 6 x 2 feet; centre, 2 feet across. Competitors were formed into squads of equal strength, who fell in as
skirmishers in extended order, any position; a target being opposite to each at an unknown distance. They fired at
unknown distances, on sound of bugle; advancing or retiring, by word of command. Time allowed, 10 minutes. One
point for each hit added to the score.

Ranges, 200, 500, and 600 yards. Seven shots at each range. Targets at 200 yards, 6 x 4 feet; centre, 2 feet; bull's eye
8 inches square. At 500 and 600 yards, 6 x 6 feet; centre, 4 feet; bull's eye, 2 feet. Highest possible score, 840
points.
