Delegation of the Governor's Powers under "The
Waste Lands Act, 1858," to the Superintendent of
the Province of Auckland.

HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Waste Lands
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor, under his hand and the Public Seal of
the colony, from time to time to delegate to the
Superintendent of any province all or any of the
powers vested in the Governor by sections three,
four, and five, and also by section fourteen of the Act
now in recital, subject or not to any limitations or
restrictions as he may think fit, and in like manner
to revoke any such powers: Provided always that
any power which may be in any Superintendent at
the time of the coming into operation of the Act now
in recital under any of the Acts, Ordinances, Bills,
or Regulations specified in the Schedule to the
Act now in recital shall thenceforth be deemed and
taken to have been duly delegated under the Act
now in recital:

Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor as aforesaid of
the said colony, in exercise of the power and authority
for this purpose vested in me, do hereby delegate
unto

Sir GEORGE GREY, K.C.B.,

as Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, all
the powers vested in me under or by virtue of
sections three, four, and five, and also by section
fourteen of "The Waste Lands Act, 1858," to be
exercised by him as long as he shall remain Superin-
tendent of the said province, and no longer.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
the Most Honorable George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby,
Earl of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby,
and Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in
the County of York, in the Peerage of
the United Kingdom; and Baron Mul-
grave of New Ross, in the County of
Wexford, in the Peerage of Ireland; a
Member of Her Majesty's Most Honor-
able Privy Council; Knight Commander
of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George; Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at the Government
House at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of April, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

Act, 1868," to the Superintendent of the Province of
Auckland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of April, 1875.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Lunatics Act,

1868," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council from time to time to order and
direct that all or any of the powers, functions, duties,
and authorities vested in or required to be performed
by the Governor, or the Governor in Council, by the
Act now in recital, within any province or other dis-
trict of the colony, shall be exercised or performed
by the Superintendent of any such province; and
thereupon such functions, powers, duties, and author-
ities may by such Superintendent be exercised or
performed within the province or other district of the
colony specified in such order, and in like manner to
alter or revoke any such order:

Now therefore, His Excellency George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of
New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, in pursuance
and in exercise of the power and authority for that
purpose vested in him, doth hereby order and direct
that all the powers, functions, duties, and authorities
vested in or required to be performed by the Gover-
or, or the Governor in Council, by "The Lunatics
Act, 1868," within the Province of Auckland, shall
be exercised by

Sir GEORGE GREY, K.C.B.,

as Superintendent of such province, so long as he
shall remain Superintendent of the said province,
and no longer.

Delegation under "Public Health Act, 1872," to
Superintendent of Auckland.

NORMANBY, Governor.

HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Public Health
Act, 1872," it is, among other things, enacted that
the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit,
order that all or any of the powers, functions, duties,
authorities, or acts, vested in, conferred on, or
authorized or required to be performed by the
Governor within any province, district, port, or
place in the colony, by or under the fifty-third and
seventy-seventh sections of the said Act, shall be
exercised, performed, or done by the Superintendent
of such province, with the advice of the Executive
Council of such province (if any); subject, however,
to any limitations or restrictions as he may think fit:

Now therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority enabling me under the hercin-
before in part recited Act, do hereby order that all
the powers, functions, duties, authorities, or acts
vested in, conferred on, or authorized or required to
be done by me as such Governor as aforesaid,
within the Province of Auckland, under the fifty-
third and seventy-seventh sections of the said Act,
shall be exercised, performed, or done by

Sir GEORGE GREY, K.C.B.,
the Superintendent of the said province, as and
in manner by the said Act required: Provided that
this order shall only remain in force so long as the
said Sir George Grey shall be and remain such
Superintendent as aforesaid, or until other provision
in that behalf shall be made by the Governor under
the powers aforesaid.
