HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint
HENRY CHUDLEIGH WILMER, Esq.,
to be Registrar of Marriages, and of Births, Deaths,
and Marriages, and also Vaccination Inspector, for
the District of Wellington, as the same is defined
in Proclamation of the 20th day of July, 1874, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 39, of the
23rd July, 1874. This appointment to take effect
from the 1st March instant.

THE following Certificate and Declaration are
Publishing conformity with the provisions of
"The Execution of Criminals Act, 1858."

CERTIFICATE.
I, T. M. Philson, M.D., the Medical Officer in at-
tendance at the execution of Nutana (a Maori), at
the Gaol of Auckland, do hereby certify and declare
that I have this day witnessed the execution of the
said Nutana at the said Gaol; and I do further
to be a Member of the Licensing Courts for the

certify and declare that the said Nutana was, in
pursuance of the sentence of the Supreme Court,
hanged by the neck until his body was dead.
Given under my hand, this nineteenth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-five, at the Gaol of Auckland.

DECLARATION.
We do hereby testify and declare, that we have this
day been present when the extreme penalty of the
law was carried into execution on the body of Nutana
(a Maori), convicted at the Criminal Session of the
Supreme Court held at Auckland on the eighth day
of January last (instant), and sentenced to death;
and that the said Nutana was, in pursuance of the
said sentence, hanged by the neck until his body was
dead.
Dated this nineteenth day of February, in the year
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five, at the
Gaol of Auckland.
