N.B. The Auckland Hospital is without the boundary of the Borough.
Of the total Deaths, Males contributed 64, Females, 47. Of the same total, 66 deaths, or 59.4 per cent. of the whole number,
were of children under 5 years of age; and of these 66 deaths, 57 were of children under 1 year, being 51.35 per cent. of the whole
number of deaths.
Three persons of 75 years and upwards died during the month, viz.:-One man in Wellington, 83 years old, from a fall
down stairs; one woman in Dunedin, of 79 years, from old age; and one woman in Christchurch, of 75 years, from diarrhea and
debility.
THE following Table shows the Causes of the Deaths of Persons of both sexes under five years of age and five years and upwards,
and the proportions per cent. of Deaths from each cause in the Boroughs named, during the month of January, 1874.
