Lands set apart for Immigration purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the sixty-first section of “The Immigration and Public Works Act Amendment Act, 1871,” it is enacted that in any Province in which there are not at any time, in the opinion of the Governor, waste lands of the Crown set apart or taken under the provisions of the said “Immigration and Public Works Act Amendment Act, 1871,” or any other Act for the purpose of furnishing means for defraying the costs of railways or other like purposes connected with railways, sufficient in quantity and suitable in quality and situation for settling immigrants, the Governor, on the recommendation of the Minister, may from time to time, by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette, reserve and set apart any waste lands of the Crown within such province for the purposes of immigration, and to be dealt with under the said Act: And whereas there are not now, in the opinion of me, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, waste lands of the Crown in the Provinces of Hawke’s Bay and Wellington set apart or taken under the provisions of the said Act, or any other Act, for the purpose of furnishing means for defraying the costs of railways, or other like purposes connected with railways, sufficient in quantity and suitable in quality and situation for settling immigrants:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said section of the said Act, and all other powers

omit the words “a right line across.”

enabling me in this behalf, and on the recommendation of the Minister for Immigration, do, by this Proclamation, reserve and set apart the land described in the Schedules hereto, being waste lands within the Provinces of Hawke’s Bay and Wellington, for the purposes of immigration, and to be dealt with under the said Act.

SCHEDULE No. 1.

ALL that parcel of land situate in the Seventy-Mile Bush District, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, being known as the Norsewood Settlement, and consisting of portions of the Tua Tua, the Ngamoko, and the Rakaiatai Blocks, containing by admeasurement 3028 acres, more or less; bounded to the North by the Manawatu River and Native lands; to the East by Subdivisions numbered 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, and 82; to the South by the Main South Road and Crown lands; to the West by Crown lands.

SCHEDULE No. 2.

ALL that parcel of land situate in the Seventy-Mile Bush District, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, known as the Danevirk Settlement, being portion of the Umutaoroa Block, and containing by admeasurement 1128 acres, more or less, being bounded to the North by Crown lands; to the East by the Mangatera and Crown lands; to the South by Crown lands and the Tapuata Stream; and to the West by the Tapuata Stream.
