any by-law or regulation which may now or
hereafter be made thereunder respectively and
impose any penalty not exceeding the sum of
Five Pounds for the breach of any by-law or re-
gulation of the Company.
The limits within which such gas works as afore-
said are intended to be made extend to and include
all lands lying within a radius of two miles from
the south-west corner of Municipal Reserve No. 34
in the Town of Lyttelton in the Province of Canter-
bury.
Such gas works as aforesaid are intended to be
made and maintained in and through the Borough of
Lyttelton and any land which has or which may be
reclaimed from the sea for improving the harbour
of the Town of Lyttelton.
The works for the manufacture of gas are intended
to be erected on section No. 326 and part of section
No. 327 of the Town of Lyttelton containing by ad-
measurement one rood and twenty perches more or
less commencing at the south-west corner of the sec-
tion No. 326 extending thence along the south-
western boundary of the said section No. 326
and section No. 327 a distance of 150 links in a
south-easterly direction thence in a north-easterly
direction at right angles with the westernmost
boundary of section No. 327 to the north-eastern
boundary of section No. 327 thence along the north-
eastern boundary of sections Nos. 327 and 326 to the
north-west corner of section No. 326 and thence in a
south-westerly direction along the north-western
boundary of said section No. 326 to the commencing
point.
It is not intended to apply for powers to remove
the works for the manufacture of gas from the land
aforesaid.

The plans and books of reference and copy of
notice to be inserted in the Gazette will be deposited
for public inspection at the office of the Commis-
sioner of Crown Lands for the Province of Canter-
bury in the City of Christchurch in the said Province
on or before the 28th day of May instant, and will on
or before the commencement of the Session be depo-
sited in the office of the Colonial Secretary and in the
Examiner's Office.

I, ALFRED WILLIAM SMITH, Registrar of
Joint Stock Companies for the Province of
Otago, do hereby certify that I have registered a
Memorandum of Association, with Articles of Asso-
ciation annexed, establishing a Company with limited
liability of the shareholders therein, intituled
"The Walton Park Coal and Pottery Company,
Limited;"
the objects for which the said Company is established
beingβ€”First, "To purchase the interest of the
Lanarkshire Coal Company in their coal mining
lease, machinery, and plant, and to carry on and
extend the working of the mine known as 'The Prince
of Wales Coal Pit;' also to purchase or lease any
other coal mine or mines; and generally to carry on
and conduct all operations connected with the
working of collieries and the sale and disposal of
coal. Second, To establish a pottery or potteries for
the manufacture of drain pipes, jars, domestic and
dairy utensils, bottles, &c."
And I hereby further notify, that, in pursuance of
"The Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860," I have
issued a Certificate of Incorporation of the said
Company, bearing date the twenty-third day of May,
1874.
