Resident Magistrates appointed under "The Licensing
Act, 1873."

JAMES FERGUSSON. Governor.

WHEREAS by "The Licensing Act, 1873," it is
enacted that the provisions of the said Act
shall be carried into effect in every district by such
Resident Magistrate as shall be appointed for the
purpose by the Governor by warrant notified in the
Government Gazette, whether he be the Resident
Magistrate acting within the district for other pur-
poses or not: And whereas under the powers con-
tained in the said Act certain districts have been
proclaimed for the purposes thereof:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of every power and authority
vested in me in that behalf, do hereby appoint the
Resident Magistrates whose names are set forth in
the Schedule hereto, to be the Resident Magistrates
for the purpose of carrying into effect the provisions
of the said Act within the districts set forth in the
said Schedule over and against the name of each such
Resident Magistrate as aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, at the Government House,
at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-four.
