And whereas it is expedient that section one hundred
and eleven of the said Act should also be brought
into operation within the district hereinafter named:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority
vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that, in addition to the sections by the said
in part recited Proclamation of the twelfth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight, brought into operation within the district
hereinafter named, the section numbered one hundred
and eleven of "The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,"
shall, from and after the first day of March next,
come into operation within

THE DISTRICT OF SOUTHLAND,
as the same is defined in a Proclamation bearing date
the twenty-ninth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-seven.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Welling-
ton, this fourth day of February, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-three.

Delegation of Governor's Powers under "The Bridges
and Ferries Act 1868 Amendment Act, 1869," to
County Chairman of Westland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this
twenty-first day of January, 1873.

Present:

THE HONORABLE THE PREMIER, PRESIDING, AND
MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Bridges and Ferries Act
1868 Amendment Act, 1869," it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council,
at the time of making any Proclamation bringing
"The Bridges and Ferries Act, 1868," into operation
in any Province, or at any time thereafter, to dele-
gate all or any of the powers by "The Bridges and
Ferries Act, 1868," vested in the Governor, and
exercisable by him within the Province in such Pro-
clamation mentioned, except the powers conferred
by the second section of the said "Bridges and
Ferries Act, 1868," to the Superintendent of the
Province in which the said Act shall be so brought
into operation, or to any other person or persons,
and such delegation from time to time to alter and
revoke:

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy, His Excellency the Governor
has declared that the said "Bridges and Ferries Act,
1868," shall be in operation in the County of West-
land on the said twenty-sixth day of September, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers vested in him
by the said "Bridges and Ferries Act 1868 Amend-
ment Act, 1869," and by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the Colony,
doth hereby delegate to

HENRY LEE ROBINSON, Esq.,
Chairman of the County Council of Westland, all
the powers by "The Bridges and Ferries Act, 1868,"
vested in the Governor, and exercisable by him
within the said County of Westland, except the
powers conferred by the second section of the said
Act.

Delegation of Governor's Powers under "The Public
Health Act, 1872," to County Chairman of West-
land.

WHEREAS by "The Public Health Act, 1872,"
it is, among other things, enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit,
order that all or any of the powers, functions, duties,
authorities, or acts vested in, conferred on, or
authorized or required to be performed by the
Governor within any Province, district, port, or
place in the Colony, by or under the fifty-third and
seventy-seventh sections of the said Act, shall be
exercised, performed, or done by the Superintendent
of such Province with the advice of the Executive
Council of such Province (if any), as in the said Act
mentioned; subject, however, to any limitations or
restrictions as he may think fit: And whereas by the
said Act it is also enacted that the term "Superin-
tendent" shall include the Chairman of the County
Council of the County of Westland:

Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fergu-
son Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power
and authority enabling him under the hereinbefore
in part recited Act, doth hereby order that all the
powers, functions, duties, authorities, or acts vested
in, conferred on, or authorized or required to be done
by him as such Governor as aforesaid, within the
County of Westland, under the fifty-third and
seventy-seventh sections of the said Act, shall be
exercised, performed, or done by

HENRY LEE ROBINSON, Esq.,
the Chairman of the County Council of the said
County, as and in manner by the said Act required:
Provided that this order shall only remain in force so
long as the said Henry Lee Robinson shall be and
remain such Chairman as aforesaid, or until other pro-
vision in that behalf shall be made by the Governor
under the powers aforesaid.
