Appointment of Volunteer Officers.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased
to make the under-mentioned appointments,
viz.:-

In the Victoria Cavalry Volunteers.
William Retemeyer to be Captain. Date of com-
mission, 3rd November, 1873.

In the Wairoa Light Horse Volunteers.
John Old to be Sub-Lieutenant. Date of com-
mission, 14th October, 1873.

In the No. 1 Company, Canterbury Engineer
Volunteers.
Francis Pavitt to be Captain. Date of commission,
6th December, 1871.

In the Auckland Scottish Rifle Volunteers.
John Mowbray to be Captain. Date of commission,
23rd April, 1873.
John Stewart Reid to be Lieutenant. Date of com-
mission, 23rd April, 1873.

In the Napier Rifle Volunteer Cadets.
Charles Kennedy to be Honorary Lieutenant. Date
of commission, 10th November, 1873.
Charles Ellison to be Honorary Sub-Lieutenant.

Medal, is published for general information.

We, the undersigned Commissioners, have the
honor to report that we have examined all claims for
the New Zealand War Medal laid before us since
6th September, 1873, and forward herewith for your
Excellency's consideration the enclosed Rolls A, B,
C, and D, containing Nominal Returns of the appli-
cations the correctness of which we have admitted
since the above date.
