THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Warrant shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette: Provided always that no Polling Place
shall be appointed by the Governor under the said
Act unless he shall be first satisfied that the place
to be appointed is more convenient than any other
for at least twenty electors to record their votes
thereat: And whereas by the said Act it is further
enacted that every election of the Superintendent
or of a Member of the Provincial Council of a
Province shall be conducted in the manner prescribed
therein for the election of Members of the House
of Representatives, and that the Governor shall
have the same powers of appointing and altering
Polling Places and Principal Polling Places for
Electoral Districts for the election of Superin-
tendents and Members of Provincial Councils as
under the provisions thereinbefore contained he has
for Electoral Districts for election of Members of
the House of Representatives:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act,
do hereby appoint the following places to be Polling
Places for the election of Members of the Provincial
Council of the Province of Westland, namely:-

For the District of Hokitika:
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Hokitika.
Booth at South Spit Landing Place.

For the District of Greymouth :
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Grey-
mouth.

For the District of Arahura:
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Stafford.
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Golds-
borough.
W. Keech's Store, foot of Chesterfield Track.
R. Thomson's Store, Callaghan's.
Muller's House, Fox's.
Post Office Store, Teremakau.
Otto Hansen's Store, German Gully.

For the District of Kanieri:
Court House, Kanieri.
Milner's Bakery, Big Paddock.
Booth near Gemmel's Old Store, Blue Spur.
Small's Store, Woodstock.
Post Office Store, Upper Crossing, Arahura.

For the District of Totara :
Court House, Ross.
William Searle's House, Donoghue's.
School House, Bowen.
Waddo's Hut, McKenzie's Creek.

For the District of Okarito:
Court House, Okarito.
House near McGoldrick's Hotel, Saltwater.
Booth near Canavan's Store, Five-Mile Beach.
Booth near Matheson's Store, Gillespie's.
Kemper's House, Hunt's Beach.
Booth on North Bank at mouth of Haast
River.

And I do further appoint the following to be
the Principal Polling Places for the said Districts,
namely,-

For the District of Hokitika:
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Hokitika.

For the District of Greymouth:
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Grey-
mouth.

For the District of Arahura:
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Stafford.

For the District of Kanieri:
Court House, Kanieri,

For the District of Totara :
Court House, Ross.
For the District of Okarito:
Court House, Okarito.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same, at Christchurch, this first day of
December, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three.

Warrant fixing Intervals of Sittings at Auckland of
District Court of Auckland.

JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
it is made lawful for the Governor, from time
to time, by notification in the New Zealand Gazette,
to fix the times and places within the district at
which every District Court shall be held:
And whereas by "The District Courts Act Amend-
ment Act, 1865," it is enacted, that as to the times
of holding such Courts, it shall be sufficient for the
Governor, if he shall so think fit, to fix the interval
only within which such Courts shall be held at each
place, and it shall in such case be lawful for the
Judge of such Court to fix the particular times and
days for the holding of such Courts, and from time
to time to alter the same, provided that such time
and day shall fall within the interval so fixed by the
Governor:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the said power
and authority, fix that Sessions of the District Court
of Auckland shall be held at Auckland, in the Pro-
vince of Auckland, at intervals of not less than
thirteen days nor more than twenty-one days be-
tween the first day of each sittings of such Court.

the Governor, this seventeenth day of
November, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three.
