Proclamation reconstituting the District Court of
Auckland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
it is enacted that there shall be within the
Colony of New Zealand, Courts of Record possessing
Civil and Criminal jurisdiction, to be called District
Courts, and the Governor is empowered from time to
time, as he shall think fit, by Proclamation in the
New Zealand Gazette, to constitute throughout the
Colony, or in any part thereof, districts within which
such Courts shall be respectively held, and such
districts to abolish, and the boundaries thereof to
define or alter, and also to declare by what local name
such Courts shall be designated:

And whereas, by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-second day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-six, and published in the New
Zealand Gazette on the twenty-third day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, Sir George
Grey, the then Governor of the said Colony, did, in
pursuance and exercise of the aforesaid power and
authority, constitute and proclaim the district of the
Colony therein described to be a district within which
a District Court designated

"THE DISTRICT COURT OF AUCKLAND"

should be held under the said Act, and under "The
District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865:"

And whereas it is expedient that the boundaries of
the said district should be altered:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the aforesaid power and
authority, do hereby proclaim and declare that from
and after the first day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-three, the boundaries of
the said district shall be altered, and that thenceforth
the boundaries thereof shall be as hereinafter de-
scribed, and that the designation of the said Court
shall be

"THE DISTRICT COURT OF AUCKLAND."

Description of District:

All that portion of the Province of Auckland.
Bounded—towards the North and East by the sea

from Cape Maria Van Diemen to Ngakuri-a-whare
Point; thence towards the South-east and North-
east by the Tauranga Block (confiscated land) to its
most southern corner; thence again towards the
South-east by a right line to the most northern
corner of the Province of Taranaki, and by the
Mokau River to its mouth; and towards the West
and South-west by the sea to the commencing point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same, at Christchurch; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony this seven-
teenth day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three.

Providing for Election of Superintendent and Pro-
vincial Council of the Province of Westland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Province of Westland Act,
1873," it is enacted that the Provincial
Council of the Province of Westland shall in the
first instance consist of such number of Members,
over and above the Superintendent of the said
Province, as the Governor shall by Proclamation
direct and appoint, not being less in number than
fifteen: And it is also enacted that the Governor
by Proclamation may constitute within such Province
convenient Electoral Districts for the election of
Members of the Provincial Council, and may appoint
and declare the number of Members to be elected for
every such District for such Provincial Council, and
to make provision for the formation of the first
Electoral Rolls for the election of the Superintendent
of such Province, and the election of the Members of
the Provincial Council thereof:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
