within the limits of any of the cities, towns, or places
therein particularly mentioned:
Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said
Act, do hereby constitute and proclaim the district
defined in the Schedule hereto, and comprising the
Townships of Shortland, Grahamstown, and Tararu,
together with such other lands as are described in
the said Schedule, to be a Borough under "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," aforesaid: And,
in further pursuance of the said powers vested in
me, I do hereby proclaim that the name of the said
Borough shall be "Thames."

SCHEDULE.

ALL that block of land in the Province of Auckland
commencing at a point bearing from Trig. Station
F 282 degrees 36 minutes 31 seconds, distant 116814
links; thence due east to Rocky Point, 80 chains;
thence bearing 126 degrees 52 minutes, distant 4250
links, to Trig. Station F; thence by straight line
to Trig. Station No. 5, Kuranui Hill; thence by
straight line to Trig. Station No. 1, Waiotahi Spur;
thence by a straight line to the centre of the Karaka
Road, opposite centre of Sandes Street; thence by
centre of Karaka Road to the centre of Rolleston
Street; thence by centre of Rolleston Street to the
centre of the Hape Creek; thence by the centre of
Hape Creek to its confluence with the Kauwaeranga
River; thence due westward, 80 chains; thence by a
straight line to the point of commencement, a
distance of 286 chains or thereabouts-all bearings
being on the true meridian. Bounded-towards the
North, by the sea and the gold fields; towards the
East, by the Thames Gold Field, and an irregular
boundary described by the centre of the Karaka Road
and Rolleston Street; towards the South, by the
centre of the Hape Creek, the mouth of the Kauwae-
ranga River, and the sea; and towards the West, by
the sea.

"The Province of Westland Act, 1873," to come
into operation.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Province of Westland Act,
1873," it is enacted that the said Act shall
come into operation on such day as the Governor
shall, by Proclamation published in the New Zealand
Gazette, appoint: And whereas it is expedient that
such Proclamation should be made:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the said Act shall come into operation
on the first day of the month of December, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this fifth
day of November, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three.

District under "The Native Lands Frauds Prevention
Act, 1870."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Native Lands Frauds Pre-
vention Act, 1870," it is enacted that the
Governor in Council may, by Proclamation in that
behalf, from time to time define districts to be called
Native Trust Districts, and bring the same under the
operation of the said Act:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, and in exercise of the power vested in him
by the said Act, doth hereby proclaim and declare
the Province of Taranaki to be a Native Trust Dis-
trict under the said Act, by the name of

THE TARANAKI DISTRICT.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this fifth
day of November, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three.

WHEREAS by "The Mining Companies Limited
Liability Act Amendment Act, 1869," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council to appoint one or more persons, to be called
Official Auditors, to audit the accounts of all Official
Agents theretofore appointed or thereafter to be
appointed under "The Mining Companies Limited
Liability Act, 1865:"

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in him
