Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the said power and
authority in me vested in this behalf, do hereby
appoint

GEORGE HENDERSON, Esq.,
the person elected to be the Mayor of the Borough of
Blenheim, to be a Justice of the Peace under the
one hundred and thirty-third section of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1867."

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued at
Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of
January, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three.

Oxford and Rangiora Road declared a Main Road.

WHEREAS by "The Highway Boards Empower-
ing Act, 1871," it is, among other things,
provided that the term "main road," when used in
the Fifth Part of the said Act, shall mean any road or
part of road which may from time to time be declared
by the Governor to be for the purposes of the said
part of the said Act a main road:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursu-
ance and exercise of the power and authority vested
in me by the said Act, do hereby declare that the
road particularly described in the Schedule hereto
shall, for the purposes of the Fifth Part of the herein-
before in part recited Act be a Main Road, and that
this declaration shall take effect from and after the
date hereof.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same, at Queenstown, this sixteenth
day of January, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that tract of land one (1) chain wide, known as
the Oxford and Rangiora Road, and extending from
rural section number four hundred and sixty-three
(463) at Rangiora, to rural section number two
hundred and one (201) at Oxford, and more parti-
cularly delineated and described by the tracing
marked "Canterbury, No. 1," authenticated by the
signature of the Secretary for Crown Lands, and
deposited in the General Crown Lands Office.

THE following Regulations of the New Zealand
University, approved by His Excellency the
Governor in Council on the 21st January, 1873, is
published for general information.

REGULATIONS FOR THE APPROPRIATION OF
(0) FUNDS.
That One thousand pounds (£1,000) be appropri-
ated for the establishment of twenty (20) Scholar-
ships, to be awarded for proficiency in one or more
of the following subjects :-

  1. Classics.
  2. Mathematics.
  3. Physical Science.
  4. Modern Languages, other than English
    History and English Literature.
    That there shall be one Scholarship in each of the
    above-mentioned branches of study of the value of
    seventy pounds (£70); and that the remainder be of
    the value of forty-five pounds (£45); and that the
    tenure of each Scholarship be for the term of the
    University course.
    That the balance of the three thousand pounds
    (£3,000) be appropriated to the payment of the
    incidental expenses of the Council.
    That these Regulations come into force on the 13th
    day of October, 1872.
    Approved in Council, January 21st, 1873.

Bonus will be paid on the Export of Cured Fish,
on the terms and conditions shown in New Zealand
Gazette, No. 60, of 18th November, 1872, has been
altered from 1st November, 1872, to 1st August,
1872.

Zealand Gazette, No. 56, of 11th day of October,
1870.
