Parcels of Crown Lands excepted from sale.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of September, 1873.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Waste Lands Act, 1858," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor in Council at any time and from time to
time to except from sale, and either reserve to Her
Majesty or dispose of in such other manner as for
the public interest may seem best, such of the waste
lands of the Crown in any of the Provinces of the
Colony as may be required for the purposes of
military defence, or for construction of trunk lines
of road, or as sites for public buildings for the use of
the General Government, or for other purposes of
public utility or convenience:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, in exercise and in pursuance
of the power and authority in that behalf vested in
him, doth hereby except from sale and reserve to
Her Majesty the several parcels of the waste lands
of the Crown particularly specified and described in
the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes
in the said Schedule mentioned and set opposite the
descriptions of the said parcels of land respectively.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that part of the Harbour of Port Lyttelton com-
mencing at the eastern headland of Camp Bay; thence
following a line bearing N. 20 W. (mag.) a distance
of 55 chains; thence at a right angle westerly at a
distance of 62 chains; thence again at a right angle
southerly a distance of 55 chains, to the western
headland of the said bay; and from thence following
along the line of high watermark round the bay to
the commencing point. Together with thirty acres,
more or less, situate at Camp Bay; commencing at a
point on the line of high watermark on the eastern
side of the said bay, the same being a continuation
of the eastern boundary of Section No. 229A; thence
following along the said boundary in a southerly
direction a distance of 16 chains; thence following a
line bearing N. 37 E. (magnetic), a distance of 33
chains 10 links; thence at a right angle north-
westerly a distance of 11 chains 20 links to high
watermark; and from thence returning along the line
of high watermark to the commencing point—for a
Quarantine Station.

Regulation under "The Armed Constabulary Act
Amendment Act, 1869."

WHEREAS by "The Armed Constabulary Act
Amendment Act, 1869,"
it is, among other
things, enacted that the Governor may from time to
time make and alter Regulations respecting the
enrolment, discipline, and the duties to be performed
by the Armed Constabulary, and generally for the
effectual carrying out of "The Armed Constabulary
Act, 1867,"
and the now reciting Act, and all such
Regulations shall have the same force as though
they formed a part of this Act, and shall affect and
govern all persons whom they purport to affect and
govern, whether in the Armed Constabulary or not:

And whereas certain Regulations have been made
under the said Acts for the purposes aforesaid, and
it is expedient to make a Regulation respecting the
enrolment of persons to serve in the Armed Con-
stabulary as hereinafter provided:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and in exercise of the powers and authority
vested in me by the hereinbefore in part recited Act,
do hereby make the following Regulation, that is
to say,-

Notwithstanding anything contained in the Regu-
lations now in force, whenever any person shall be
enrolled in the Armed Constabulary, the intended
period of service shall be inserted in the Form of
Oath in each case when the oath is administered;
the Form of Oath set out in the said Regulations
shall hereafter be read as if the words "twelve
calendar months" had been omitted therefrom.
