District proclaimed under "The Weights and
Measures Act, 1868."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Weights and Measures Act,
1868," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor from time to time to appoint one
Inspector of Weights and Measures for any Province,
County, Borough, or District, or for each of two or
more divisions of any Province, County, Borough,
or District, the boundaries of which divisions
shall be proclaimed from time to time in the New
Zealand Gazette by the Governor: And whereas it
is expedient that an Inspector should be appointed
for the division of the Province of Auckland the
boundaries whereof are set forth in the Schedule
hereto, and that the boundaries of such division
should be proclaimed:

Now therefore, I, the Right Honorable Sir James
Fergusson, Baronet, Governor of New Zealand, in
exercise and pursuance of the power and authority
conferred on me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim
and declare that, for the purposes of the said Act,
there shall be within the said Province of Auckland
a division or district, the boundaries whereof shall be
the boundaries set forth in the Schedule hereto.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this twenty-
seventh day of August, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of the Province of Auckland com-
prised in the Resident Magistrate's District of
Raglan.

The Forest Trees Planting Acts to be in operation
in the Province of Otago.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Forest Trees Planting
Encouragement Act, 1871," it is enacted that
the Governor may from time to time, upon the appli-
cation of the Superintendent and Provincial Council
of any Province, by Proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette, declare the said Act to be in operation in any
Province, or in any District being part of a Province,
to be defined in such Proclamation, and on a day to
be fixed in such Proclamation the said Act shall come
into operation in such Province or District: And
whereas, on the sixteenth day of July, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-three, the Pro-
vincial Council of the Province of Otago passed a
Resolution requesting His Honor the Superintendent
to make application, on behalf of the Provincial
Council, to the General Government, to declare"The Forest Trees Planting Encouragement Act,
1871," to be in operation in that Province: And
whereas the Superintendent of the said Province
hath transmitted to me a copy of the said Resolution,
and hath requested me to cause the said Act to be
proclaimed in the Province aforesaid:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and
exercise of the authority vested in me by the said
in part recited Act, and in accordance with the
application of the said Superintendent and said
Provincial Council as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim
and declare that "The Forest Trees Planting En-
couragement Act, 1871," as amended by "The Forest
Trees Planting Encouragement Act Amendment Act,
1872," shall, on the twenty-third day of September
next, be in operation in and throughout the Province
of Otago aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
third day of September, 1873.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the fourth section of "The Forest
Trees Planting Encouragement Act, 1871," it
is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in
Council may from time to time make Regulations for
defining the number and description of trees to be
planted on each acre, and the other terms and con-
ditions to be fulfilled by persons claiming a free grant
of land under the provisions of the said Act: And
whereas by a Proclamation made by the Governor
under the provisions of the said Act, of even date
herewith, the said Act was proclaimed and declared
to be in operation in the Province of Otago as and
from the twenty-third day of September, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-three, as therein
particularly mentioned: And whereas for the
purpose of giving effect to the firstly hereinbefore
recited provision of said Act it is expedient to
make the regulations hereinafter set forth:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Right Honorable
Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities vested in him by the said
Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Colony, doth hereby
make the following Regulations for the several
purposes in the said in part recited Act mentioned-
such Regulations to take effect within the Province
of Otago aforesaid as and from the said twenty-third
day of September, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-three.

REGULATIONS UNDER "THE FOREST TREES PLANTING
ENCOURAGEMENT ACT, 1871," AND "THE FOREST
TREES PLANTING ENCOURAGEMENT ACT AMEND-
MENT ACT, 1872."

  1. The planting in respect of which a grant of land
    under the Act is claimed need not be in one block,
    but may be in several blocks on the same property.
