JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.
IN exercise of the power in me for this purpose
vested by "The Westland Waste Lands Act,
1870," I, Sir James Fergusson, the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby authorize the sale
of the land described in the Schedule hereto to Henry
Diedrichs and Henry Karnbach, at the rate of ten
shillings per acre.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the County of Westland,
containing by admeasurement one thousand acres
more or less, situate in the Totara District: bounded
on the East by Section 1561; on the South by a road
along the north bank of the Hokitika River; on the
West by a line parallel to east boundary; and on the
North by a line in continuation of north boundary
of Section 1561. Subject to necessary reserves and
gold workings.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's Most
Honorable Privy Council, Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of August, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three.

IN conformity with the provisions of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1867," the following
Petition from Inhabitant Householders at the Thames
for the constitution of a Borough, and Letter of Assent
from His Honor the Superintendent of Auckland,
are published for general information; and it is
hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor
will consider the Petition on the 28th day of October
next.

jesty's Most Honorable Privy Council, Gover-
nor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same,
&c., &c.
The Petition of the undersigned Inhabitant
Householders of the District, the boundaries
whereof are hereinafter more particularly set
forth,
HUMBLY SHOWETH, -
The district, the boundaries of which are herein-
after more particularly set forth, comprises all that
block of land commencing at a point bearing from
Trig. Station F 282 degrees 36 minutes 31 seconds,
distant 11681 links; thence due east to Rocky
Point, 80 chains; thence bearing 126 degrees 52
minutes, distant 4250 links, to Trig. Station (F);
thence by straight line to Trig. Station No. 5,
Kuranui Hill; thence by straight line to Trig. Station
No. 1, Waiotahi Spur; thence by a straight line to
the centre of the Karaka Road, opposite centre of
Sandes Street; thence by centre of Karaka Road
to the centre of Rolleston Street; thence by centre
of Rolleston Street to the centre of the Hape Creek;
thence by the centre of Hape Creek to its confluence

with the Kauwaeranga River; thence due westward
80 chains; thence by a straight line to the point of
commencement, a distance of 286 chains or there-
abouts-all bearings being on the true meridian. The
boundaries of the said district are towards the
North by the sea and the gold fields; towards the
East by the Thames Gold Field, and an irregular
boundary described by the centre of the Karaka Road
and Rolleston Street; towards the South by the
centre of the Hape Creek, the mouth of the Kauwae-
ranga River, and the sea; and towards the West by
sea. The said district lies wholly within one and
the same Province-to wit, the Province of Auckland,
in the Colony of New Zealand. The said district is
not wholly or in any part comprised within the limits
of any city, town, or place specified in the first column
of the First Schedule of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867." The said district is not wholly or in
part comprised within the limits of any city, town, or
place before the passing of "The Municipal Corpora-
tions Act, 1867," incorporated or reputed to have
been incorporated under any of the Acts or Ordin-
ances specified in the fourth column of the First
Schedule to the said "Municipal Corporations Act,
1867." The said district does not exceed in area
nine square miles, and has no one point in such area
distant more than six miles from any other point in
the said district. The said district contains a popula-
tion of not less than two hundred and fifty of
inhabitant householders. Your Petitioners are
desirous that the said district may be constituted a
Borough, under and by virtue of "The Municipal
Corporations Act, 1867."
Your Petitioners therefore humbly pray that
your Excellency will be pleased to con-
stitute the said district a Borough under
the provisions of "The Municipal Cor-
porations Act, 1867."
