Appointing Quarantine Stations.

JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Public Health Act, 1872,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, by any order noti-
fied by Proclamation in the Gazette, appoint certain
stations within or near any harbour or place within
New Zealand for the performance of quarantine
under the Third Part of the said Act, where all
vessels liable to quarantine, and the crews, passengers,
and persons on board thereof, shall perform the
same: And whereas it is expedient that the places
hereinafter particularly mentioned should be ap-
pointed Quarantine Stations, for the purposes in
the said Act mentioned:

Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me for that purpose, do by this Proclama-
tion order and appoint that the places named and
described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the
same are hereby appointed to be, stations for the
performance under the Third Part of
"The Public Health Act, 1872."

SCHEDULE.

LYTTELTON.

THE whole of the Island in the Harbour of Lyttelton,
Province of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand,
known as Ripa Island; together with that portion
of the said Harbour lying between two lines, A and
B, running North and South, the westerly line A
extending from the western extremity of the said
Ripa Island 5 furlongs northward, the easterly
line B extending northerly 5 furlongs from the eastern
point of Camp Bay.

PORT CHALMERS.

THE whole of the Island situated in Otago Harbour,
in the Colony of New Zealand, known as Quarantine
Island; together with all that area, estimated to
contain two hundred and ten (210) acres, more or
less, being part of Otago Harbour. Bounded-to-
wards the North-north-west, by a line extending
from Acheron Head to Quarantine Point, forty-six
(46) chains; thence by a line due South, forty-six
(46) chains; thence by a line in a West-south-
westerly direction, forty-six (46) chains; thence by
a line due North, forty-six (46) chains, to the
starting point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Right Honorable Sir James Fergusson,
Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty's
Most Honorable Privy Council, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of August, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
three.

Council and reserved by the Superintendent of
the Province of Hawke's Bay for the signification of
the Governor's pleasure thereon, intituled
"The Education Act, 1873;"

"The Public Park and Botanical Garden Act,
1873;" and
"The Slaughter House Amendment Act, 1873,"
having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency
has been pleased to assent to the same.

Council and reserved by the Superintendent of
Taranaki for the signification of the Governor's
pleasure thereon, intituled
"Roads Division Ordinance, 1873,"
having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency
has been pleased to assent to the same.

THE following Ordinance passed by the Provincial
Council and assented to by the Superintendent of
Taranaki on behalf of the Governor, intituled
"Cattle Impounding Ordinance 1870 Amending
Ordinance, 1873,"
having been laid before the Governor, His Excel-
lency has not been advised to exercise his power of
disallowance with respect to it.

has been pleased to withhold his assent to the same.
