ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of August, 1873.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
HIS Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of all powers and
authorities vested in him by "The Marine Act,
1867," and "The Harbour Boards Act, 1870," or
either of them, doth hereby, with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the Colony,
approve of the following By-law made by the Auck-
land Harbour Board.
BY-LAW.
ALL gunpowder or explosive substances landed or
shipped within the Port of Auckland shall be landed
or shipped at the Mechanics Bay Wharf, as defined
by the By-law made on the twenty-ninth day of
May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three,
as follows:-
Mechanics Bay Wharf.
" Bounded-on the North-east by the Breakwater,
at St. Barnabas Point; on the North-west by land
between high and low water mark and the waters of
Auckland Harbour; and on the South and East by
that portion of the Wharf Road situate between the
before-mentioned Breakwater on the North and the
Mill Culvert on the South."
And any person who shall land or ship, or aid or
assist in landing or shipping, any gunpowder or
explosive substance within the Port of Auckland at
any other wharf, jetty, or other place except at the
said Mechanics Bay Wharf, shall forfeit and pay for
any such offence any sum not exceeding fifty pounds.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
sixth day of August, 1873.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Merchant Ships' Officers
Examination Act, 1870," it is, among other
things, enacted that, for the purposes of the exami-
nations in the said Act mentioned, the Governor in
Council may from time to time appoint and remove
Examiners, and award the remuneration to be paid
to them: And whereas it is expedient to appoint
Examiners for the purposes of the said Act at the
Port of Dunedin:
Now therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise of the authority in me vested by the said
Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Colony, do hereby
appoint
WILLIAM THOMSON, of Port Chalmers, Master
Mariner, and
JOHN ORKNEY, of Dunedin, Master Mariner,
to be Examiners at the Port of Dunedin for the
purposes of the examinations in the said Act men-
tioned and provided for.
