BIRD ISLAND LIGHTS.
NOTICE is hereby given that a new Lighthouse is in
the course of erection at the Bird Islands, and that
the new Building having reached the height of the
upper Light, the Light will be blinked between the
bearings of S. and S. by W. ½ W. by compass from a
ship.
Vessels passing inside the Islands at night are
therefore warned of this until the new Light is
exhibited.

REPORTED DANGER BETWEEN THE PERCY ISLANDS
AND H.H. GROUP.

MR. ALFRED HARWOOD, master of the barge "Enter-
prise," reports that during his last voyage from the
Pioneer River to Brisbane, he sighted at low water a
heavy break upon what appeared to be a sunken
rock, in the following position, viz. :
Pine Peak E. by N. ¾ N.
h. 2 Island Bluff W.S.W. Southerly.
Prudhoe Island being nearly in line with the south-
east Islet of the Beverley Group.

Lands reserved for Educational Purposes.

WHEREAS by the regulations for the sale and
disposal of lands taken under the authority
of "The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," and
"The New Zealand Settlements Amendment and
Continuance Act, 1865," contained in the Schedule
to an Order in Council made and issued, bearing date
the 11th of May, 1871," it is provided that reserves
for roads, and all other public purposes whatever, and
for education, and the sites for churches and chapels
or other places of worship for different religious
denominations, may be made by Government out of
any confiscated lands, and that notices of all such
reserves shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette: It is hereby notified, that the lands
specified in the Schedule hereunder written shall
be reserved for the purposes therein mentioned and
set opposite the descriptions of the said parcels of
land respectively.

Notification of Resignation of Seat in the House of
Representatives for the Electoral District of
Waikouaiti.

IN compliance with the provisions of the 13th
section of "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1870," I hereby notify that Sir DAVID MONRO,
Knight, resigned his seat in the House of Repre-
sentatives, for the Electoral District of Waikouaiti,
on the 6th day of June, 1873; and that the said seat
is vacant by reason of such resignation.

General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister
within the meaning of the said Act is published for
general information:—

certify that the foregoing Name of an Officiating
Minister, within the meaning of "The Marriage

the names in Lists published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 6, of the 30th January; No. 9, of the
13th February; No. 11, of the 27th February; No.
17, of the 20th of March; No. 22, of the 10th of
April; No. 25, of the 24th of April; No. 26, of the
1st of May; No. 30, of the 15th May, and No. 31,
of the 22nd May, in the present year.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the parcel of

the provisions of "The Land Transfer Act, 1870,"
unless caveat in the meantime be lodged forbidding
