and so many districts as he shall think fit, and every
such district shall be called by a distinct name, and
shall be a Curator's District; and in like manner
from time to time, as he shall think fit, to abolish any
such district, and alter or vary the boundaries of any
district, or increase the number of such districts:
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing even date
herewith, all the Curators' Districts proclaimed or
constituted such Curators' Districts under the said
in part recited Act have been abolished: And
whereas it is expedient that other Curators' Districts
should be proclaimed in lieu thereof, as and in manner
hereinafter set forth:

Now therefore I, Sir George Alfred Arney, the
Officer Administering the Government of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in me by the hereinbefore
in part recited Act, and of every other power and
authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and appoint that, from and after the
day of the date hereof, the Colony of New Zealand,
(with the exception of that part thereof which is
known as the Chatham Islands, and the Islands
adjacent thereto,) shall be and the same is hereby
constituted a Curator's District for the purposes
of the said Acts, and shall be called by the name
of "The New Zealand District:" And in further
pursuance and exercise of the hereinbefore men-
tioned powers and authorities, I do hereby proclaim
and appoint that that part of the Colony of New
Zealand known as the Chatham Islands, together with
the Islands adjacent thereto, shall, from and after
the day of the date hereof, be and the same is hereby
constituted a Curator's District for the purposes of
the said Acts, and shall be called by the name of
"The Chatham Islands District."

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Alfred Arney, Knight, the Officer
Administering the Government and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependen-
cies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at Wellington, this seventh day of May,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-three.

Excellency the Officer Administering the Govern-
ment, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the Colony, doth hereby appo
the Town of Wellington, in the Province of Wel-
lington, to be the place at which

WILLIAM ROBERT EDWARD BROWN, Esq.,
the person appointed to be Curator of Intestate
Estates within the New Zealand District, shall keep
his office.

WILLIAM PARKER STREET, Esq.,
to be Registration and Returning Officer for the
Electoral Districts of City of Dunedin, Roslyn, and
Caversham, for the election of Members of the House
of Representatives, vice A. R. Chetham-Strode, Esq.,
resigned.

and Marriages, appointed.

HIS Excellency the Officer Administering the

ROBERT JOSEPH LANAUZE, Esq.,
to be the Deputy to the Registrar of Marriages, and
of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, for the District of
Buller, as the same is defined in Proclamation of 4th
day of June, 1872, and published in New Zealand
Gazette, No. 29, of 5th June, 1872.
