HIS Excellency the Officer Administering the
Government has been pleased to appoint
HORI NGATAI, of Whareroa;
HONE MAKARAURI, of Maungatapu; and
HARAWIRA KOTAI, of Opuhi,
to be Assessors under "The Outlying Districts Sale
of Spirits Act, 1870," for the District of Tauranga,
Bay of Plenty. The appointments take effect from
the 1st instant.

the Harbour Master, Otago, is published for
general information.

HARBOUR LIGHT AT WAIKOUAITI.

NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after the 1st
May, 1873, a Bright fixed White Light will be ex-
hibited from an ordinary Lantern, erected on the
South Head of Waikouaiti Bay, in latitude 45° 39′ S.,
and longitude 170° 41′ 45" E., and will be seen in
clear weather at a distance of 7 nautical miles,
between the magnetic bearings of S.E. E. and W.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from
the Marine Board of South Australia, is pub-
lished for general information.

PORT DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY.

INFORMATION has been received from the Govern-
ment Resident that a rocky patch exists, running
north and south, about sixty feet (60 ft.) in length,
awash at low spring tides, on the following bearings:
-North extreme of Talc Head, west half north, and
centre of King's Table, south by east quarter east
(S. by E. E.)

This discovery affects Admiralty Chart Sheet No.
18.

Regulations for the Payment of Bonuses for Nomi-
nated Immigrants.

Immigration Office,
Wellington, 21st April, 1873.

THE Government having decided upon allowing
bonuses to persons obtaining nominations of
Emigrants to this Colony, the following regulations
are issued for general information:—

  1. The bonus is fixed at five shillings for males, and
    ten shillings for females, per statute adult, payable
    upon the arrival of Emigrants nominated.

  2. Persons obtaining nominations must accompany
    the applicants to, or lodge the application at the
    nearest Immigration Office, where the application
    and arrangement for passage money will be duly
    made in accordance with the regulations (New Zea-
    land Gazette, 12th December, 1872
    ).

  3. The person introducing the applicant will then
    be entitled to receive from the Immigration Officer a
    certificate to the effect that he has obtained the
    nomination of A, B, or C, from to

  4. A duplicate of this certificate will be forwarded
    to this Office, and, upon due notice of the arrival of
    the Emigrants nominated, the amount of bonus pay-
    able will be forthwith remitted to the Immigration
    Officer for payment to the person holding such cer-
    tificate.

ISSUE OF £250,000 NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT
DEBENTURES IN NEW ZEALAND.

Wellington, 8th April, 1873.

TENDERS are invited for the purchase of the
whole or any portion of Two Hundred and Fifty
Thousand Pounds New Zealand Government Deben-
tures, issued under the Acts of the Legislature of
the Colony, entitled "The Immigration and Public
Works Loan Act, 1870," and "The Defence and
Other Purposes Loan Act, 1870," subject to the
under-mentioned conditions:—

  1. The Debentures will be payable to Bearer,
    and will be issued in sums of not less than
    One Hundred Pounds each.

  2. The Debentures, which are secured on the
    Consolidated Revenue of the Colony will bear
    interest at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum,
    payable half-yearly, on the 15th day of April
    and the 15th day of October in each year, at
    the Bank of New Zealand at Auckland, New
    Plymouth, Wellington, Napier, Nelson, Blen-
    heim, Christchurch, Greymouth, Hokitika,
    Dunedin, or Invercargill.

  3. The principal sum will be payable on the
    15th day of April, 1913, at the Treasury at
    Wellington, or at any Branch of the Bank
    of New Zealand in New Zealand, at the op-
    tion of the holder, six months' notice being
    required, previous to maturity, of the place at
    which payment will be required.

  4. Tenders will be opened at the Treasury at
    Wellington, at noon on Friday, the ninth day
    of May next, in the presence of such of the
    tenderers as desire to be present—the mini-
    mum price under seal being first placed on the
    table. In the event of equal tenders being
    received for a sum in excess of the issue, a
    pro rata distribution will be made.

  5. The amount tendered for must be paid at the
    Treasury at Wellington, as under :—

5 per cent. accompanying application; * the
balance on or before the 16th May, 1873.

Or, at the option of the purchasers, —
5 per cent. on application.
20 per cent. in one month,
25 per cent. in two months,
25 per cent. in three months,
25 per cent. in four months,
with accrued
interest.

On payment of the final instalment, Debentures
signed by the Agents appointed under the respective
Acts, will be delivered to purchasers or their
nominees.

  • Purchasers electing to pay balance within a week will be
    entitled to interest from the 15th day of April.
