Establishing a Municipality at Westport.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867," provision is made for constituting,
by Proclamation, boroughs in districts not comprised
within the limits of any of the cities, towns, or places
therein particularly mentioned: And whereas it is
expedient to constitute the Town of Westport a
borough in manner hereinafter provided.
Now therefore, I, Sir George Alfred Arney, the
Officer Administering the Government of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested
in me by the said Act, do hereby constitute and pro-
claim the district comprised within
THE TOWN OF WESTPORT,
as the boundaries thereof are defined in the Schedule
hereto, to be a Borough under "The Municipal Cor-
porations Act, 1867," aforesaid.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Alfred Arney, Knight, Officer
Administering the Government and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and
its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of
the same; and issued under the Public
Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington,
this sixteenth day of April, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Province of
Nelson situate on the Buller River, and bounded on
the Northward by the high watermark of the South
Pacific Ocean; on the Eastward partly by a straight
line, bearing 155° 53', drawn from the aforesaid high
watermark in the direction of Domett Street to the
north-east corner of the Municipal Reserve; thence by
Domett Street, 155° 53', six hundred and twenty-five
links, one hundred and twenty-five links, three thousand
and seventy-five links, one hundred and twenty-five
links, and seven thousand eight hundred and fifteen
links; on the Southward partly by Daniell Street,
245° 53', three thousand eight hundred links, one
hundred and twenty-five links, and eleven hundred
links, partly by a continuation of Palmerston Street,
155° 53', five hundred links, and partly by a line
between Sections 7A and 5 to the banks of the River
Buller, bearing 245° 53'; and on the Westward by
the banks of the River Buller to the northern boun-
dary as given above.

to be Registrar of Marriages, and of Births, Deaths,
and Marriages, for the District of Wairau, as the
same is defined in Proclamation of 30th day of July,
1863, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No.
36, of 6th August, 1863. This appointment dates
from the 12th day of April, 1873.
