Friendly Societies, registered and recorded in his
office under the provisions of "The Friendly Societies
Act, 1867."

THE following Regulations respecting Subsidies to
Works for Water Supply upon Gold Fields are
republished for general information.

WHEREAS by "The Immigration and Public Works
Act Amendment Act, 1871," it is, amongst other
things, enacted that the Minister for Public Works
may receive applications from the owners or lessees
of works for the supply of water on Gold Fields for
mining and other purposes, or from other persons
interested in such works about to be constructed, for
advances of money to aid in the construction, exten-
sion, or improvement of such works: and by the said
Act it is further enacted that the said Minister may
make Regulations prescribing the mode of making
and the form of such application, and for proceeding
on such application, as in the said Act mentioned:
And whereas it is expedient that Regulations should
be made for the purposes in the said Act mentioned:
Now therefore, I, the Honorable John Davies
Ormond, the Minister for Public Works, in pur-
suance and exercise of the authority vested in me by
the said Act, do hereby make the Regulations set
forth in the Schedule hereto, prescribing the mode of
