wood, as and to be a District under and for the
purposes of "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1871;" and
in further pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred upon me by the said Act, I do hereby
attach to the said district the name of "The
Northern Nelson District;" and lastly, I do hereby
declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and
after the twenty-second day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-two.

Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, this thirteenth
day of August, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
two.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1871,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation to be published in the
New Zealand Gazette, may from time to time estab-
lish and define such and so many districts as he shall
think fit to be districts under the said Act, and to
each such district there shall, in the Proclamation
defining it, be attached such name as the Governor
shall think fit, and by which name it shall thereafter
be called, and that every such district may from time
to time in like manner be altered or constituted
anew in such manner as the Governor may think fit:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand aforesaid, in pursuance
and exercise of the above recited power and authority,
do hereby define all that tract of country comprising
such parts of the Electoral Districts of Cheviot and
Grey Valley as are within the Province of Nelson,
together with the Buller Electoral District, as and to
be a District under and for the purposes of "The
Diseased Cattle Act, 1871;" and in further pursuance
and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the
said Act, I do hereby attach to the said district the
name of "The Southern Nelson District;" and
lastly, I do hereby declare that this Proclamation
shall take effect on and after the twenty-second day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.
