A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,"
it is enacted that, as soon as conveniently
may be after the establishment of a Petty Sessions
District, and afterwards from time to time as may be
deemed expedient, the Governor shall, by Proclama-
tion in the New Zealand Gazette, appoint a meeting
of the Justices of the Peace resident in such district
to be yearly held within such district, at some speci-
fied time and place, for the purpose of choosing a
Chairman of Petty Sessions and settling a rota of
attendance: And whereas by an Order in Council
bearing date the second day of July, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-nine, the Petty Session Dis-
trict of Mangapai was defined and established:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority in this behalf
vested in me, do hereby proclaim and appoint that,
for the District of Mangapai, a meeting of the
Justices of the Peace resident within such district
shall be yearly held at the dwelling-house of Charles
Osborne, in the Parish of Maungakaramea, in the
District of Mangapai, instead of in the Mangapai
Hotel, as appointed by a Proclamation bearing date
the seventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-nine, at twelve o'clock noon, on the first
Tuesday in the month of September, for the purpose
of choosing a Chairman and settling a rota of
attendance.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Govern-
ment House, at Wellington; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, this
twelfth day of August, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-two.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1871,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation to be published in the
New Zealand Gazette, may from time to time estab-
lish and define such and so many districts as he shall
think fit to be districts under the said Act, and to
each such district there shall, in the Proclamation
defining it, be attached such name as the Governor
shall think fit, and by which name it shall thereafter
be called, and that every such district may from time
to time in like manner be altered or constituted anew
in such manner as the Governor may think fit:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand aforesaid, in pursuance
and exercise of the above recited power and authority,
do hereby define all that tract of country comprising
the Province of Auckland as and to be a District
under and for the purposes of "The Diseased Cattle
Act, 1871;" and in further pursuance and exercise of
the powers conferred upon me by the said Act, I do
hereby attach to the said district the name of "The
Auckland District;" and lastly, I do hereby declare
that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after
the twenty-second day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-two.
