CERTIFICATE.
I, THOMAS HITCHINGS, the Medical Officer in at-
tendance at the Execution of Kereopa at the Gaol
of Napier, do hereby certify and declare that I have
this day witnessed the Execution of the said Kereopa
at the said Gaol; and I do further certify and declare
that the said Kereopa was, in pursuance of the
sentence of the Supreme Court, hanged by the neck
until his body was dead.
Given under my hand, this fifth day of January,
in the year 1872, at the Gaol of Napier.

DECLARATION.
WE do hereby testify and declare that we have this
day been present when the extreme penalty of the
law was carried into execution on the body of
Kereopa, convicted at the Criminal Session of the
Supreme Court held at Napier on the twenty-first
day of December last, and sentenced to death; and
that the said Kereopa was, in pursuance of the said
sentence, hanged by the neck until his body was
dead.
Dated this fifth day of January, in the year 1872,
at the Gaol of Napier.

THE following Notice to Mariners, relative to the
Bean Rocks Light, Auckland Harbour, is pub-
lished for general information.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.
Light on Bean Rocks, and Beacon on Bastion Reefs.
NOTICE is hereby given, that since the 1st December
last, a fixed Red, White, and Green Light, of the 5th
Order Dioptric, has been exhibited between sunset
and sunrise from a Lighthouse erected on the Bean
Rocks.
The Lighthouse is an open-framed structure, sur-
mounted by keeper's dwelling and lantern, painted
White, and elevated 50 feet above high water level.
The Light will be seen in clear weather a distance
of ten nautical miles, allowing ten feet for the height
of the observer's eye, and will show Red, White, and
Green, respectively, between the following bearings,
all of which are given towards the light, viz. :-
Red—Between the bearings of W.S., and
S.W. by W.W.; that is, red in the Tehmaki
Strait, and on the south side of Koreho
Channel, covering the reef north of Koreho
Island.
White.—Between the bearings of S.W. by
W.W., and S.W. W.; i.e., white in the
fairway of Koreho Channel and the south-
eastern side of the Hich Channel.
Green—Between the bearings of S.W. W., and
S.S.E. E.; i.e., green on the north-western
side of the Koreho and Hieh Channels, and
on the eastern side of Rangitoto Channel,
covering Rangitoto Reef.
White—Between the bearings of S.S.E. E., and
S.E.S.; i.e., white in the fairway of Rangitoto
Channel.
Red—Between the bearings of S.E.S., and
E. by N. N.; i.e., red on the western shore of
Rangitoto Channel covering the Rough Rock,
and on the northern shore of the Harbour
covering the Sandspit Buoy and Depôt Point.
White—Between the bearings of E. by N.N.,
and N.E.E.; i.e., white in the fairway of the
Harbour, and over its southern shore above
Oraki or Hobson's Bay.
