the Wellington Savings Bank shall, from and after
such day as shall be fixed for the purpose in and by
an Order in Council, be deemed to be finally closed
within the meaning of the provisions of "The Post
Office Savings Banks Amendment Act, 1869," as in
the said Act mentioned: And whereas it is expedient
that a day should be fixed for the purpose of giving
effect to the hereinbefore recited provisions of the
said Act:

Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fer-
guson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of the said first
mentioned Act, and in exercise of every power or
authority enabling him in that behalf, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Colony, doth hereby fix the first day of
February, 1872, as the day from and after which the
Wellington Savings Bank shall be deemed to be
finally closed, as provided by the said Act.

WHEREAS by "The Immigration and Public
Works Act Amendment Act, 1871," it is,
among other things, enacted that the Court Fees to
be paid in respect of the inquiries therein mentioned
(and the purposes of which inquiries are set forth in
Part VI. of the said Act), shall be fixed by the
Governor by regulations to be by him from time to
time made: And whereas it is expedient to fix a
scale of Court Fees to be paid in respect of the
inquiries in the said Act mentioned:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me
by the said Act for that purpose, and subject to the
provisions thereof, do, by the Regulations set forth in
the Schedule hereto, fix the Court Fees to be paid in
respect of the inquiries in the said Act mentioned.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued at
Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of
January, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

SCHEDULE.

  1. Upon proceedings taken under Part VI. of "The
    Immigration and Public Works Act Amendment Act,
    1871," where the amount claimed by the owner
    does not exceed £100, and a sum less than that
    claimed is offered by the Minister, or where a sum
    less than £100 shall be offered by the Minister and
    refused by the owner, then the Court fees to be
    paid, whether in a District Court or in a Resident
    Magistrate's Court, shall be those set forth in the
    second column of this Schedule.

  2. In cases in like circumstances to those set forth
    in the preceding regulation, but where the amount
    offered or refused, as the case may be, exceeds £100,
    then the Court fees to be paid in the said Courts
    shall be those set forth in the third column of the
    said Schedule.

  3. In enforcing payment of costs under section 37
    of the said Act, the like Court fees shall be charged
    on process thereon as in civil proceedings in a
    District Court or a Resident Magistrate's Court, as
    the case may be, and in accordance with the scale

for the time being in force in those Courts in like
cases.
4. In the construction of these Regulations the
word "owner" shall mean the person claiming or to
whom compensation shall be offered, whatever may be
his estate or interest; and the word "Minister" shall
mean the Minister for Public Works for the time
being, or any person acting for him under the said
Act.

JOHN HENRY STUBBS, Esq.,
to be Registrar of Marriages, and of Births, Deaths,
and Marriages, for the District of Turanga, as the
same is defined in Proclamation of 24th day of
March, 1870, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 16, of 25th day of March, 1870, vice
Alexander Blair, Esquire, resigned.

TENDERS for the Bookbinding required by the
New Zealand Government during the twelve
calendar months commencing the 1st April next, will
be received at this Office until noon of Thursday, the
29th February next.

A bond for the sum of £750—the Contractor in
the sum of £250, and two approved Sureties £250
each—for the due performance of the contract will
be required to be entered into within a month of the
acceptance of the contract; failing which the contract
may be again advertised, or another tender accepted.
Tenderers failing to take up their accepted tenders
will be disqualified from tendering for Government
work for a period of twelve months.
