THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
And in further pursuance and exercise of the
authority aforesaid, I do hereby declare that the
said Courts shall be severally designated by the
names which are hereunder specified and set above
the description of each such district respectively,
that is to say,—
Designation of Court.
THE DISTRICT COURT OF WESTERN OTAGO.
Description of District.
The Western Otago District shall comprise all
that area bounded towards the North by Milford
Sound and the Cleddan River to its source; thence
by a direct line to Mount Christina; thence by a
line due east to the Otago Gold Field; thence
towards the East by the Otago Gold Field and the
Mataura River to the Tuturau Hundred; thence by
the northern and eastern boundaries of the said
hundred, and the meridian of 169° East longitude to
the ocean; thence towards the South and West by
the ocean to Milford Sound.
Designation of Court.
THE DISTRICT COURT OF TOKOMAIRIRO AND
CLUTHA.
Description of District.
The Tokomairiro and Clutha District shall com-
prise all that area bounded towards the North by the
southern bank of the Taieri River, and branch to the
Waipori Lake; thence by the Waipori Lake, the
Meggat Burn, and the southern boundary of the
Otago Gold Field, to the Mataura River; thence
towards the West by the Mataura River to the
Tuturau Hundred; thence by the boundary of the
said Tuturau Hundred, and the meridian of 169°
East longitude, to the ocean; and thence towards
the South and East by the ocean to the mouth of
the Taieri River.

HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The District
Courts Criminal Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1870,"
it is enacted that the Governor may by Proclamation
from time to time declare that any District Court
shall have cognizance of all felonies and indictable
misdemeanours, as specified in the fourth section of
the said Act:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that

shall henceforth have cognizance of all felonies and
indictable misdemeanours committed before or after
the passing of the said Act within the district over
which its jurisdiction extends, saving only the felonies
specially excepted in and by the fourth clause of the
said Act.
